So my FH and I just received an invite for an old friends wedding and on the invitation it says 'Cocktail reception to follow.' Has anyone ever been to one and how much did you give as a gift?? Do you give the same amount that you would for a traditional wedding or is it different? TIA

FH and I went to one that was out of state and it was one of his friends. He ended up giving the same amount as he would to a regular wedding reception but I really think that's up to you guys and how close you are to the person and how much you're comfortable with giving.

That's what I was planning on doing but I didn't know if there was a protocal.
I usually base my gift on where the wedding is and the nicer the place the more money. This is why I was a little stumped as to what to give.

our friend's had that... we gave the same amount we normally give at weddings - though I was also a BM in this wedding. If I wasn't I may have given a little less.
It definitely all depends on how close you are to this couple.
