Coffee Urn Question...

Coffee Urn Question...

This weekend, I got a 30 cup West Bend Coffee Urn for $2 at a garage sale! They are in the stores for $25. Now, for my question. Is a coffee urn the same thing as a percolator? Or is it just a big coffee pot? I went looking online and some say coffee urn percolator and some just say coffee urn (and in the description it says it brews the coffee)? I am so confused. My husband wanted a percolator. What I got has the area where you put the coffee with the holes, then it has the long stick thing you put in. So the water comes up that to the coffee area and then drips throw the holes.

I am sooooo confused. Anyone?? Thanks,D

Re: Coffee Urn Question...

You have a percolator.

You are a good little bargain hunter, aren't you? Good for you! $2 is a steal. Run it with some white vinegar instead of water (and no coffee obviously) before you use it to remove any deposits and stuff. I go to yard sales every weekend since we moved to MP. I am finding lots of nice stuff, especially for Luke.

Ha ha. It all really started with you. After my GF grill, I was like, 'oh I wonder what else I can find!' :)

We love the grill by the way.

Oh yeah, the coffee urn was a steal. I will do the vinegar, thanks for the tip.

You would have loved the garage sales I was at over the weekend. I couldn't believe the beautiful toys they were practically giving away. Every garage sale I went to, and I went to quite a few, had beautiful toys. Little Tykes, VTech, all the toys that cost a pretty penny in the stores, in excellent condition. If I had a little one, we would have been in trouble. I would highly recommend looking for toys for Luke. All the toys they were selling, you can just bring home and clean/disinfect. They were all beautiful toys. I got my niece, a few things. She is 8, but I got her a board game (that costs like $20 in the stores, probably, sealed), a few books and a educational CD. The guy charged me $1.

Ok, I am done. I get kind of excited. :)

Yep. Little Tikes stuff is #1 on my sale hunting list. I got him a whole bunch of things one weekend for $10. At that sale, I missed buying a Little Tikes backyard gym thingie with a slide and holes to crwl through because I got a call from a long distance friend and didnt get to the sale first thing in the AM. They had just sold it for $20 and those things are around $100 new. As long as I have my scrub brush and cleaning supplies, I am thrilled with the plastic toys. DH got a baby seat attachment for his bike - brand new for $5. I would have have haggled them down to at least $4 but he wouldnt do it. At the same sale they were selling a whip and handcuffs LMAO! You should have seen the guy buying it, he looked like an ancient professor.

Glad you are enjoying the GF grill. It worked out for me that you have it. This way I can check up on it from time to time to see how it is and if it's happy. LOL

:) LOL

Well I wish you much luck in your hunt for Little Tykes for Luke. :)

Lets keep each other posted on our findings! :) That is hysterical re: the whip and handcuffs. LMAO!

Yes, I would have haggled down to $4 too! Men, they have so much **** pride. :) My DH wouldn't come with me to the sales (your lucky). He gets embarrased going with me to my local Dollar Store.

That is funny re: the Grill. Sure, check up on the little fella anytime you want! :)
