Coffemaker?

Coffemaker?

Can someone suggest a reasonably priced one?

I do not drink coffee at all. I am having a GTG at my place this weekend, and there are mucho coffee drinkers in the bunch, so it is only polite that I serve coffee. I want to purchase a coffee maker for these type of occasions.

Thanks.

Re: Coffemaker?

I am a big fan of Perked coffee instead of Drip coffe, so I'd recommend a Farberware Perculator - they range in price from $35 (2-4 cup) - $50 (4-12 cup).

Farberware Perculator

If you wanted to get a Drip Coffee Machine, my FMIL bought one yesterday in Sears for $35.00. It is a Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker. It keeps the Coffee hot all day.

Black & Decker

Sears also had a Mr. Coffee 12-cup for $19.99. If you and DH aren't coffee drinkers, then maybe that's the way to go!

If you don't want to invest in a coffeemaker, you can buy a jug of coffee from Dunkin Donuts- they're like $10 each. I did this once before I bought a coffee maker and it was great!

Thanks for the suggestion, but I would rather have something on hand. You know what if it is one of those spontaneous things where someone comes over and I have nothing to offer. I like to be on my P's and Q's.

Question for all the Perculator ladies:

FMIL HATES perked coffee because there are 'too many grinds' ... I don't really find this a problem at all with the Farberware machine but FMIL insists perked coffee ALWAYS has grinds ... what do you think?

My grandmother's coffee always has too many grinds and I think its because she puts too much coffee in the basket. I also have found that if you fill the pot with too much water, it tends to soak the grinds then they come out over the top and into your cup. not that Im a coffee expert or anything, just found this from expereince!!

I have a 3-cup espresso pot like this. I like its simplicity and that its small in size. Also, since mine is alluminum, it heats up pretty quickly

If you will hardly make coffee I would also say a perculator. Also coffee comes out really good.

I have a Krupps and I haven't been happy with it. The first one broke right away and this one has shown signs of it going on me (in less than 1 year and I hardly use it!!!!). It has the thermal pot and cost a pretty penny too!
