Cold feet.....

Original post by mls282

Has anyone been experiencing this or previously experienced this?
I have been full blast planning away for 2 months and I was getting very overwhelmingly stressed out... crying for no reason etc. So I decided that I was just going to take a break from wedding planning for a little bit. So its been about a week or so since I have done any planning or anything which has given me alot of time to think....
I just started feeling like things were too rushed and even began wondering if this was right in the first place. I can't pinpoint want exactly is wrong but just something doesn't seem right.... and its causing me severe anxiety. I tried to discuss it with FH but he just thinks everything will be fine. I even started asking him if he was scared etc.... and he was like no... I love you. That didn't help me at all... actually made me feel worse. I have been up since 4am b/c I cant sleep...

Also has anyone moved a date back or canceled things... how do you go about doing that and do you get your deposit back???

Any advice would be helpful.......
Please feel free to fm me if you dont want to post openly.

Thanks!

Awww first thing I can offer you is a hug! Marriage is a HUGE step and I think all of us have had cold feet at one time or another. I mean, it's a life changing event and it should be thought through 100%. You seem like you are unsure of everything. I would just stay away from panning for now and go on with the relationship as is. You may change your mind and you may not. You have to do whats best for you in the end.

Thanks everyone for all of the advice! I am sorry I didn't get to repond to all of the fm's individually. I have just been trying to figure stuff out. I think I will stop the wedding planning for now... and maybe even postpone the wedding... to take time to make sure I am making the right decision. I don't know exactly why i feel this way... but its just my gut feeling that something is missing or not right.

Thanks again everyone!

I think you are doing teh right thing. I think you seriously need to to think & not worry about planning a huge event. Marriage is a very serious step. One i hope we all do once in our lives! Take time for yourself & then take some time for you & FH see if there is anything left between you. Talk to him & the go from there. Postponing is teh best idea for you right now. I think if tings work out then awesome & if things turn out on teh otherside you are at least doing what is best for both of you! Best of Luck to you both! Remember you can come on here anytime for any help!

I am so sorry you are feeling this way. Maybe you just need to take a step back for a while from everythign and try to reconnect with each other. I know, as exciting as it is, this is the one of the biggest decisions and stresser in one persons life - regarless of what anyone tells you. Three of my friends who got married all told me they had doubts till the second they walked down the isle - not because they didn't love the person but because this is a huge decision.. This is a life long decision and being scared and doubtful is normal. However, you do (as someone I think already said) is take a look at everything and see if you want to chose to spend your life with him or without him. Chances are you are just getting overwhelmed with things. Don't worry about what anyone else thinks or what probs may come up on whatever you decide, you have to do what is best for YOU! Good luck and let us know how it goes!!

My advice would be to chill out on the planning you have tons of time. do not overwhelm yourself or you will make the both of you miserable. The less stress, the more exciting the wedding. Trust me i did it FM me if you need more advice

I think deep down I am afraid that it is more than cold feet.....

Do you think its not going to work out after the wedding? Or are you worried about supporting each other as a family?

I think we are all a mess at some point. But you have to determine, are you overwhelmed and a mess because of the whole idea of a wedding and wedding planning or are you doubting your relationship with your fh.

Take some time alone to figure that out. It may just be the wedding planning itself thats making you have second thoughts....

I agree. Maybe if you stop the wedding planning and focus on the relationship and bringing that old spark back it might work out and it might come back to you. If it doesnt, I would consider calling it off. I dont think anyone will be angry at you for doing this. This happened to my sister, she got so used to her ex (they were togheter for 10 yrs) and she felt that she was scared to be alone and start over and just felt like she had to get married. they ended up calling it off and she was devasted by it for about a month, she didnt eat or do anything but time does heal all and now she has a new bf that she loves very much and she realizes that she saved herself from a really bad divorce
