Cold Feet Anyone?

Cold Feet Anyone?

Am I the only one? I am getting married next April, and am already second guessing myself. I love my FI to death, but I ran into an EX last week and all these strong feelings came back. I can't help but think I'm crazy! Is it cold feet,or am I not really ready to commit yet? Thanks for letting me vent.

I don't know about Crest Hollow, but we did check out the Coral House.

Thank you all for your encouraging words. My ex and I never had closure on our relationship and then I met my FI. Not seeing him in almost 4 years helped me 'forget' him. Now that we've seen each other, and he's declared his love for me still, I think there's still something there. That's my problem, I'm not sure if it's just butterflies or the real thing???

Pretend someone else wrote your message. What would you say? If you want to commit, you must DECIDE to commit... forever. Only you know the answer.

Has anyone been to the RKBridal on 82nd and Broadway? Is it worth checking out?

What a place to be! Only you can make the decision for yourself but some things to consider are whether you are craving the 'excitement' of the unknown vs. the 'boringness' of the commitment. You may know your ex but also consider why you broke up to begin with. People are funny, sometimes their ego is involved and the challenge of 'winning you back' could be motivating him. (Sorry...that's not to say he is insincere but it's something to consider). You said you met your fiance right after you broke up, was it a rebound situation? So many things to consider but if you are not sure about marrying your fiance, don't do it. You could always postpone and if it is meant to be it will work out. Whatever money you have already put out is a small price to pay rather than go through with it if you are unsure. What helps me in a lot of situations is a pros & cons list. Just sit down and try to bang one out off the top of your head. Add a few things as you think of them but it does wonders to get this stuff on paper in front of you rather than spinning around in your head. Good luck, I empathize with what you must be feeling with this new indecision in your life. Just try to be as honest as possible with yourself (you know, instead of that way we all have of sometimes kidding ourselves or talking ourselves into something) Please let us know how it is going. Hang in there.

Cold Feet Anyone?

Actually, my ex and I dated throughout high school. When I went away to college (he stayed home), we agreed to take time apart b/c we were both so young. I always thought we'd eventually get back to each other. Then I met and fell in love with my FI, a month after my breakup. I moved in with my FI two years ago to NJ so I never saw him anymore. But my ex and I have kept in touch once in a while (like when a mutal friend passed) but I've always known his true feelings, he's always been very open about them with me. He's also told me he wants me to be happy and is realistic that us trying at it again is slim to none. It's just that when we bumped into each other, and I actually saw him and how he still feels,it ripped open a wound I closed years ago. I am sure it will pass, but I still have this feeling that I must not be 100% happy now if I'm thinking about someone other than the man I'm suppossed to marry.

Thanks again girls, you've all shared some important and personal views. I have some thinking to do.

Jenny...it looks like they did. Well at least you know this board is being monitored!!

Thank you Sharon. I re read your post a dozen times, and every word you said is right. I realize I have made a commitment to my FI in more ways than just marriage. I could never live with myself if I never tried to honor that committment. Even though I am still struggling with these new and old feelings, I know my heart will go with what is right for me.

I appreciate your thoughts. Nicole

I ran into my ex a year before I married and yes I'll admit my heart skipped a beat or two. But then after speaking to him I realized that we had zilch in common and were going in totally seperate directions in life. That's when I felt confident in my choice of a husband; even though he wasn't the one and only 'love' of my life (spouses can't really believe they were the only one who ever touched our hearts, there had to be life before them), he was the one that would fufill me spiritually, emotionally, financially, and in all the ways that counted towards a successful marriage.
