Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
Well my invites came in last week and now i am just trying to get all the addresses from all the family members so I can give my co worker a proper list to address the invites ( he is doing caligraphy for me)this has to be the worst part of the wedding planning, everything else has been fine or fun.
trying to make sure we didnt forget anyone and organizing list from several different people
and then trying to type on computer while at work, so much fun.
How many people did everyone end up inviting?
we dont even know for sure yet.
thanks for listening.
on a good note,
I love my invites, so excited.
bye

Congrats Kimberly. Good luck in getting it all done. Don't worry, it will work out! Sounds like your invites are beautiful. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get them??

Re: Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
I found this was the most stressful part in the planning stage as well. I devoted a Saturday to putting my list together which worked out pretty well.We invited 300 people and 251 attended our wedding. Good luck with everything

Re: Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
It is not an easy process since you are depending on other people. One thing that will help alot is to create a master list on the computer (I used Excel). Also give the family a deadline (lie about when you really need the addresses). Tell them that after that date no more guests will be considered. Also, be very, very careful with your invite list. You are not sure how many people are being invited? Make sure you do not go over your budget, your room count etc...

Re: Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
You may want to put a little number on your response cards because a few people mail them back without filling them out. We didn't know who was or wasn't able to attend. So many people don't respond too so its hard to figure out who did it.If you have them numbered & you have a list of who is which number, it could help you.

Re: Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
We used excel to organize all of the names and addresses with numbers to match to put on the back of the response card. It really helped with those invites that came back without a name on it!

Re: Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
I used a table on Word to keep organized...i highly recommend it. And any changes you make, do them on the computer - don't just handwrite them it, because if you lose that list - ugh, you don't even want to think about it!!Congrats - this is the beginning of the fun insanity!! Please post pics of your invites!!!!!

Re: Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
For Friends/Coworkers did you feel weird and asking people. I felt like I had to be very sneaky and make sure that no one was around when I asked them. Also, I felt weird asking some people because I felt that they thought that maybe they would feel obligated to go...anyone else feel that way???

Re: Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
Thanks everyone,I am putting all the addresses on my computer
(incorporating all lists into one)
then numbering each label on a master sheet then numbering the back of the response card to coorispond with the master sheet. So if someone forgets to put their name on the response card I know who they are and then when I am trying to see Who hasnt responded all I will have to do is see what Numbers are missing.
Got this Idea from the help of LIweddings and UW, Thanks Ladies.
About the coworker stuff, I am only inviting a handful and I work in a small place, but we cant fit everyone so I had to just narrow it down, I dont feel funny, if people cant come they wont.
My list is almost complete, I have I THINK everyone on it just missing some addresses, so I will give to my coworker to start caligraphy and then update it when I can, rather have him strat right away.
thanks for all the support.
I dont want to even think about Table arrangements Yet.

Re: Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
I have been trying to get a list together for six months (no joke) because I wanted to send out my save the dates about 5 months before the wedding. Needless to say, I am still mailing them out (one by one) as I get the addresses. I have been working on the list for so long, that at least 10 people have moved.
On the bright side, I only need four more addresses (out of 125).

Re: Collecting Addresses (getting ready to address Invites)
I used excel for my guest list as well. I love that you can very easily sort it any way you need. Our master list had ALL of the necesssary info - RSVP, # of people, table numbers and we used it to track gifts we received and thank yous that were sent.
And Marnie is right - keep the list up to date! My DH is famous for putting scraps of paper places and losing them - LOL
