My fiance and I are starting to look at invitations and we have come across many types of invitations that have color in them. Is that appropriate for a wedding or should we stick to the ivory/white invitations that are popular for weddings???

Re: color in invitations??
A majority of my wedding invotes are colored. I think it is personal preference. Color seems to be very popular lately. If you look in the magazines that seems to be all you see. What ever you want is best.

I LOVE color!!! (if it's done tastefully) ;)
I think invitations really set the tone for the wedding, so if you have a certain theme or color you're really emphasizing-you should definetly go for it.

You should choose whichever invitations you like! Lots of people use color these days.

Go with whatever you like. I personally don't want anything that has no color in it. You'll know which one is your favorite when you fall in love with it.

Our inviations are ecru with a lime green band wrap, here is a picture of it. On the actually invitation we incorporated the green by having our names in green and the body of the invitation in charcol.
There are some with colors that look very nice. It all depends on what you actually like.

Re: color in invitations??
color is beautiful in invitations...they can totally set the tone of the event. the ones fh and i loved were over $800 but beautiful. it was a square card with a delicate piece of tissue over it. the tissue had an almost watercolor type of english rose on it. it was gorgeous! so the ones that i am making are a white card with an old rose stamped and then embossed with color...we are using a light sage green and a cranberry color (some have a green rose, others have the cranberry rose). anyway, color can be so different and yet so classy, too!
I would love to have color in my invites, but can't seem to find any, does anyone know of any websites with these types of invites?

I did letterpress invites by julie holcomb - in a claudia calhoun style - they were white with Navy blue writing with the edges hand foiled with silver

Re: color in invitations??
I like ecru ones, but I am goign very traditonal with my invites. There is a slight light brown leaf patternin the back & we might go with brown or copper ink, whihwas a big stretc for me- I thought they HAD to be black! but I've seen color on a lot of invites. Especially more contemporary ones.

Our invitations have lavendar touches on them, including lavendar envelope liners, since that is my color scheme.
I think there are no set 'rules' on what you can do regarding invitations, it depends on your theme/color schcme and most of all your personal taste!
I want invitations with color or at least some silver or gold trim. You choose what you like.

the ones we picked have color..there is a black and white photo of a little boy & girl and a big red rose right next to it...the respond cards and everything also have a red rose.. i think its a matter of preference too..
If you see something you like, go for it! Its your day!

Re: color in invitations??
I had the same problem. I knew I wanted an Irish/Celtic look & either it was plain white or Ivory. Or it had gold in it (which I'm not into)
I was about to order them when someone on these boards told me about Lizard Designs and I saw these & fell in love!! We had them made up w/ hunter green (not the burgandy that is shown)
