This is my dining room ceiling. It is going to be a PITA to repaint over this color considering...ok, forget the considering, I just like it. It's funky and different. What other colors could I do on the walls that would go with it. They have tan sponge painting on there as of now...Should I just freshen it us a bit with the same color?
You could freshen up what's there or do a cream color - I LOVE those two colors together. I like the ceiling like that - very different... Is that the light you're keeping or will you be changing it?

I like the creamy colors too. But are the 2 textures overkill? I think it would look good with regular paint on the walls, maybe not the sponging.

Re: Color opinion
do not put texture on the walls! It will look very overdone! I soft, light, but not too light, you don't want the ceiling to look too heavy. Is there violet in that color, or is it mostly a tint of red?
It's not textured, just sponged. It's a taupe/tan/cream mix with a violet sponged ceiling. It looks great, though DH isn't thrilled, and I am tryign to convince him to let me keep it. I just have to find a color to match. Should I sponge the walls again or will solid go as well?
And no, she will be taking the fan with her... SHe is goign to throw any old fixture up there, so I will have to get a new fan....

Laurie: I like the ceiling!! If you prime and paint the ceiling a more neutral color you will have more color options for your dining room now and in the future.
But..if you wind up keeping it I would say a cream. Since the ceiling is such a dark color you can you have lighter walls to make the room appear larger.

I would paint it solid, no sponge. I think it would be a bit much with the ceiling..IMO.

I love the texture on the ceiling!! Don't dare change it.
I would paint the walls a medium tan solid..no texture.
