So, I'm planning out my wedding but my ideas for a color scheme are driving me nutz.
Originally I wanted a garden wedding, and would have been very happy in a covered pavilion outdoors - but once realizing the impossibility finding one with a back-up rain plan - wound up at Douglaston Manor because of its historic, old-time feeling. It's a touch rustic too.
It's totally messing with colors scheme..
I wanted White - Crimson/cherry red - and that Antique/Venetian gold. Curtains and drapings around the RH are already white/gold.
I feel like this is too harsh though for an early spring wedding so I want to soften it up.
Do you think like a blush color or dusty rose color could work while keeping it formal? Something to soften the contrast of white - bold red and then gold so I don't look like an outdoor barbecue?
Any ideas for a fourth color? I don't want to do jewel tones in May like I originally wanted, I feel its too heavy.
Eek s - help?

Re: Color Scheme
I think blush, peach, or even a bright magenta color would be pretty. Would you ever consider doing an aqua? I've seen lots of wedding palettes being a cherry red and aqua. I haven't been to your venue before so I'm not sure if it would fit in.

Re: Color Scheme
If you are going to keep the bold red, I would go with a blush to soften it. Or you could do purple with the red, which I think would go good with white and gold.
The last one was similar to my best friend's wedding. We wore dusty rose dresses, her MOH wore red, and we all carried red flowers.

You think peach could work? I was considering it, because to be honest - I hate the color pink
I had my entire room done pink when I was 7 or 8. I mean Pepto Bismo pink - and I have regretted and hated the color ever since. Even when I'm not living in it now.
I love blue, but I can't see it working for a romantic feeling.

I am soooo not a pink fan, but I've found that I really like peach as a part of our color scheme. It's very understated and would go very well with the gold, and those would all flow together beautifully at DM

Thank you so much for posting the inspiration boards! The second one is really pretty.
I think my problem is pink/blush is an obvious way to soften my colors (white- red-gold) but I grew up hating the color, so I'm worried about my entire wedding winding up pink. It happened to my sweet 16,thanks to my mother.
I do have a dusty rose sweater I got for Christmas that's I LOVE the shade of. Maybe I could try to match that tone, being it doesn't scream little girl pink to me.
I never thought of purple.. Don't know why. hmm

Yeah, absolutely. If you don't like pink then don't do it. I'm struggling myself with colors. I haven't seen too many weddings online in the colors I'm envisioning. It's rough.

I'm going to look through my pics now and try to find one from my best friend's wedding so you can see the dusty rose we wore.

I'm not a pink person either, but this dress photographed beautifully. In person, it looked almost terracotta, but photographed much more pink.

Re: Color Scheme
you should think about what kind of fabric you want the dress in and then look at swatches that are offered by designers you like. You don't want to be set in a specific color and then fall in love with a dress that doesn't offer the color you're thinking...just something to think about.

I know -I'm pretty sure I'm looking for Bridesmaid dresses in a shade of red, that's not firetruck red. I'm thinking about a berry red.
I've put myself in a whole - I've sort of got a geeky, fairytale wedding theme going on. Just think more like medieval times fairytale than Disney. Nothing against those of you who like Disney, it just wasn't for me.

Muted Fall colors with a deep red/burgundy color possibly for BM dresses. I'm going to try and attach a picture. I took it on my phone of a magazine cut out. It's the closest thing to the colors I want.
