Color Scheme Question

Color Scheme Question

I am having a really difficult time with picking bridesmaid dress colors... i really like black, but fh is concerned that they will blend in with the groomsmen and the guest too much. Also, what should the accent color be. This is for a late summer, Aug 28th wedding at the Swan Club.

Here is the dress that all of the bridesmaid liked - i personally always thought i would have my bm wear long dresses but they didnt like them. (Bill Levkoff 384 - incase link or pic dont work)

Any suggestions/personal experience/pictures is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance and happy new year!!!

I'm doing black BM dresses in May! I say go for it! Maybe give them a brooch or something for their dresses so they can stand out a little.

ETA: I'm doing apple green as an accent.

Re: Color Scheme Question

my sister got married in the summer at the Swan Club and the BMs wore long chiffon black dresses. I don't think we blended in with the GM because we had really brightly colored bouquets. I understand wanting your BMs to be happy but if you want long dresses, I think that's a reasonable requirement for you to make.

We got married July 3rd and did black dresses with a white sash...i thought it was very classy and elegant! Our flowers were white with pale pink accents!

Re: Color Scheme Question

Thanks for all the advice. Its so hard because im so non-confrontational and want to make everyone happy. Also I would say to date bm dresses have been the most difficult thing for me to choose in the wedding process because my bridal party is all different shapes and sizes, and some people were getting very frustrated because all of the sample sizes seemed to be sizes 6-12 and some girls didn't fit into any. Maybe I should of throught before deciding to have such a large bridal party... 7 (2 sisters, 1 fsil, 4 friends).

Would of never thought of the black and yellow but I like it.

Re: Color Scheme Question

if you just tell the girls to wear any black chiffon long dress they want, it will look cohesive and all the girls can find styles that flatter them.. That's another advantage to wearing black, you don't have to use the same designer like you would if you picked a color.

Im not sure i full agree with this..I would pick a designer becuse believe it or not, the blacks between designers vary! I think having them find a dress that suits them is ag reat idea....maybe pick a color and fabric from a specific designer and have them choose? Or to make it easier, maybe you pick a few dresses and let them decide between them?

my sister did it for he wedding. We had a religious friend who had to have her dress made but we didn't want to pay for ours to get made as well, so we went this route. Before they came in I was nervous, but there were six girls from six different designers and they looked like a group.
