I was thinking of doing a color theme for the wedding, but I'm not sure. I was thinking of having 5 bridesmaids and groomsmen. All the bm will wear the same dress but each will have a different color ( pink orange yellow green and blue) in all really bright colors bc its the summer. The groomsmen vests will match the girl they walk down with, but i don;t know where to go from there. What do you think of this honestly, and do you have any other ideas to go with this?

Re: color theme???
Personally (JMO) the idea reminds me of prom. Maybe you can do the different color bm dresses and have the GM in all the same colors...

Re: color theme???
We just saw that 2 days ago when we went to atlantis, it doesn't look prom-ish at all. It was REALLY nice looking. All the girls had the same dress, and the men matched, the MOH and bestman looked a little different, I think she had a different neck line and he had a different vest. They also used the colors in their bouquets.
My friends mother did that YEARS ago... but she had her maids carry white roses or carnations actually and she carried a bouquet of every color. I LOVE that idea!

Re: color theme???
That sounds like a rainbow wedding from the 80's. Stick to one color for the BM dresses and accent that with bright flowers.

Re: color theme???
It would be fun for your BM's to have different cuts of the dress or even in two different tones, for ex. 2 girls in coral, 2 girls in blue, etc. Usually the MOH has a different color from the rest of the BM's. Honestly, if you put all of your BM's in bright colors in that order, it would be too much pastel/rainbow in the palette. It might be too much for your GM's as well to do coordinating colors with the vest. If you love bright shades, I recommend doing tropical colors like coral with any of the colors- teal, lime, red, fuscia, violet... it'll be a real eye opener and your pics will def pop out. Another option is peach/nectarine/citrus (orange/yellow shades). I did sage & gold for my summer wedding. It was gorgeous and a bit hit with our family & guest!

Re: color theme???
When we started planning we were going to do a March wedding and I wanted to do something similar to what you are describing but I was going to do them all in black dresses and have each girl get a different color sash. I figured it would be perfect bc the guys would be in black tuxes with their vests & ties to match their partner's sash.
I love the idea of varying the colors and like I tell everyone... its YOUR wedding, do whatever is going to make YOU happy!

Re: color theme???
I'd just be nervous about it being too 'busy' looking. You want to stand out (at the wedding and in your pics). If you have too many colors going on, it may detract from you, drawing the eye to the colors.
I'd consider bright flowers in lots of colors if you're looking to add a splash.

Re: color theme???
I think it sounds like a wonderful idea, but think it may appear too busy as some have said, also like a rainbow. Maybe you can do different shades of one color? Or colors that go together nicely and complement each other, instead of random bright colors.

Re: color theme???
It may be a little busy but you can try this....
All the BM's in the same hue. I saw a pic in a bridal magazine and all the BM's wore blue, but different shades of blue. It was so pretty. It went like this: -Turq -Royal Blue -Lt Blue -Navy -Seafoam

Re: color theme???
I've seen pics of wedding parties where they choose two colors and alternate women, and that looks very well put-together. I think if I have more than 2 girls, I'd have had my MOH in a dress that was the same color but with some sort of pattern on it. Alfred Angelo has the most gorgeous patterned BM dresses, and J Crew used to, but I'm not sure they do anymore.
I do like the idea of the guys all wearing the same color. Kinda will balance it out and bring it together.

I think that may be too many colors! it may be a bit busy! I used some of those colors though and it looked beautiful for a summer wedding...
I don't remember who it was but there was an 07er or 08er who had really bright colored BM dresses and they were different colors, it looked GORGEOUS, she had bright flowers too.

I think if it's done right... the pics posted here look quite good.
However, I've seen pictures where it looks quite loud, busy, and just off IMHO.

Re: color theme???
It really depends on a lot of things... the style of dress, the actual colors, can you tie em together with the flowers, hair, shoes being uniform..my cousin did this... check out the pic in my album... She was married on a cruise and it went with her theme. We received a lot of compliments.

Re: color theme???
JMO i dont like the look of different dresses - to me it looks unfinished and uncoordinated. It is very popular these days though - just not an option for me - i think if i had to do that - id pick 1 neutral color and do different color sashes. But again your wedding, your vision - if you like that then go for it!
