colors?

colors?

Just curious....If you are a mommy to be (or a mommy as is!) and didn't know what you were having but INSISTED on starting to pick things off the net and put them in 'favorites' and pre-mature 'registries'......things like diaper bags and fancy pastel changing pads...... ....what colors would you be choosing? Does most everybody go with yellow or green on things like this? Bedding, pillows, onesies....stuff like that?

Just wondering. I 'just might' know somebody in this predicament

Re: colors?

I don't know what I'm having, and I'm refraining from buying baby clothing clothing for that reason, because I like gender specific clothes on babies.

As for the nursery, my comforter and accessories are green, yellow, lavender and baby blue, and we are painting the walls green and installing a butter yellow carpet.

The diaper bag that I COVET is basic black.

jenn, no fun cutesy diaper bags for you ?

ETA- I bought myself a cute navy diaper bag, very hand-bag looking, and i still have yet to use it, i like the cutesy stuff

Re: colors?

lavendar, mint green, buttery yellows, soft blues, all work for both genders.

Regarding diaper bags: I registered for the LL bean diaper bag- the bigger one...after I used it for a week or so I couldnt carry it around any longer.. too big and bulky. We use it for overnight/weekend trips now. Day to day I use the diaper bag I was given by the hospital
Im looking around for a navy or black bag...maybe a tote so that rob can carry it pride as well!

Jenny- we are both in the 'surprise' club and here is what I am doing.
I found that most swings, bouncey seats, high chairs etc...were gender neutral (plus you want to be able to use them for a second baby possibly someday)
I picked out a bassinet (although I LOVE the fluffy ones the best, they just do not have the features of this one and they usually are all white or a pink/blue color, which i didn't really want)

I also registered for an Eddie Baur backpack diaper bag that is in a hunter green color and a smaller denim one. No cutesy diaper bag for me either.

In regards to the room: it will not be done until after the baby has arrived. Now (and Claud can verify this) this is very, very AGAINST my nature but I really want the gender to be a surprise so I am trying my best to cope (although it does way on my shoulders a lot). I have chosen 2 bedding sets and they are very gender specific. I am just not a fan of the unisex ones. so the baby will be in the bassinet and Daddy and grandpa will have their work cut out for them to get the nursery ready lightening quick. My themes are for a boy: a country western setting/think horses, a ranch, mountains. for a girl; a garden story book tea party setting think butterflies, lady bugs, animals having a tea party, a brooke and cottage.

In regards to clothing: I have 3 outfits for my little one. And one is a red sox outfit that daddy brought and it wouldn't matter if the baby is a boy or girl because he/she would still have one. I didn't register for many clothes at all. There are some cute Pooh things that are very neutral though. what gets me is that I put a package of little blue/yellow/white socks on my registry and it comes up as 'boy's socks' since when don't girls wear those color socks! Anyway I know that my family will get the baby clothes when he/she arrives and my stepmom already got a few neutral outfits so I am not worried the baby will be naked Plus I will give her money to go get me onesies and terry one piece outfits and such after the baby is born.

Re: colors?

As I told you before, and unlike Patrick, Joe picked out the cutsey diaper bag and I picked out the basic black one for myself!

As for the rest of the stuff, I picked neutrals, yellows, greens, etc. I also picked out a comforter that was kind of for both, but Joe liked a different one that to me is more girly, we'll see what the Baby Bear Cub is and then decide which one to keep.

As for the rest of the stuff, like carriage, high chair, I stuck with the basic navy.

They really don't have much out there for unisex, especially in the comforters. Everything is geared for one or the other!

Re: colors?

And if you are not a fan of yellow or green you are totally $crewed unless you know the baby's gender. I hate mint green, love sage, love other shades of green but more than 1 or 2 minty fresh items will drive me nuts. So I am praying for lots of tag-on clothes at my shower.
