Comb on veil

Comb on veil

Hey girls. Just wondering what everyone else thought or what past brides think.
My hair stylist for the wedding had insisted that I get a metal comb put on my veil. She said the plastic comb would slide out of my hair easily. (I have thick curly hair)
I mentioned this to my bridal store yesterday and they said it was the opposite. They said that the metal would fall out of my hair more easily and it's heavier.
I'm so confused now!! What are your thoughts on this?

it prob depends on how you are wearing your hair, but im pretty sure that its gonna stay in no matter what kind of comb you get...
mine wouldnt come out!!! lol i didnt take my veil off the whole reception because i tried and it wasnt budging so i didnt wanna mess up all my hair!

Mine was not easy to come off and I had a plastic comb.

If you have thick, curly hair I suggest you stick with the plastic comb...your hair will hold it well.

my veil was on plastic comb. but the actual headpiece was metal
both were bobby pinned in place and did not move at all

I actually didn't have a comb at all. I got what they call 'bridal loops' on the veil and the hairstylist just bobby pinned the veil in through the loops.

it won't matter at all what type of comb you have. as a professional hair stylisst - your stylist should have the right tools to make a veil with a headpiece stay on no matter what the material is made out of. During your trial, you should bring your veil and shake your head around and move around like you would on your wedding day. keep it on for as lon as possible and see if it falls out.
Either way, again, your stylist should be putting in some bobby pins as well to make sure the veil holds.
If your still not sure, get a second opinion from a different hair stylist.

I have coarse curly hair, and the plastic comb on my veil held really well. It stayed in all night, and I wore it the entire reception, and it didn't move an inch.

Same here. I have very thick, curly pita hair and the plastic comb worked great.

In fact! The metal may be difficult to remove later. I would go with the plastic. Just one curly girl's opinion.

Re: Comb on veil

Your comb will not go anywhere. Most veils come with a plastic comb. Then your hairstylist will prob add 2 bobby pins to secure it further.

My mom had to lift my veil over my head and since she's shorter than me she (accidentally!) pulled the veil. It hurt, but the veil didn't go anywhere. Trust me, your veil will be fine with the comb it comes with.

ETA: You will prob have lots of hairspray in your hair which will also help hold it in place.

My GF is a hairstylist and she hates the combs; she requests brides to have them without one so you can bobbypin it to your hair...it's neater and comes out better.

Thanks girls. Just got home and saw all of your responses. I'm not sure why she was so adimant about switching it to metal. I'm going to just stick with the plastic since that's what everyone seems to be saying. I think she also mentioned that it would ruin my hair if I took it out and put it back in, but I really don't want to take it off and on that much.
