Combined appetizer/salad course instead of 2 separate courses
Is anyone doing a combined appetizer/salad course instead of the 2 separate courses before dinner? We are debating doing the combined course. Has anyone been to a wedding that had this before? What did people think? Thanks!

that is what we are going to do so there is not so much getting up and down or missing a course while the guests are dancing.

A lot of place's are offering this now, I actually think it's a great idea for the guests. I've been to so many weddings where I didn't get a chance to eat my appetizer or salad because they are on a time schedule!
The only down-side I would suggest, is if you plan on having a hot appetizer, since they will put out the plate before-hand, it may be cold by the time the guests get seated. Other than that, I think it's a great idea, especially if you have a lot of people who like to dance.

We're doing this. There is so--- much food at cocktail hours that guests don't need a separate appetizer and salad course. And, it takes less time away from the dancing!

Any brides out there that have done this instead?... Feedbacks?

We did this. We had grilled chicken over salad as our combined salad/appetizer, and I'm really glad we did.

We are going to do this because I dont want the dinner to stretch for too long. I want people up and dancing!

I think I'll go this route. There is going to be so much food at cocktail hour, there's no need to force more and more food onto everyone.

We did this and it worked out really well. It gives your guests more time to dance too inbetween instead of sitting down 2 separate times.

I'm not sure yet, but I think I'm gonna base it on which option has food that I like better I think we will probably go with the single, combined appetizer/salad - cause there is more time for socializing/dancing (and less waitstaff going in and out)

Either they did this at the wedding I was at this weekend or I actually danced straight through the appetizer! When we entered the ballroom I believe the tables were set with plates of salad with a grilled shrimp skewer on top.

We did it, and it worked great. not one person noticed there was one less course (at least who told me) - and it saved more time for dancing. Besides, they were all too full from the CH!
