COME ON PEOPLE: HELP ME! Wedding is in 6 days...don't have my placecards back yet...should I just make my own placecards?

Last week, I sent off my little papers to the calligrapher. My UPS tracking says that she got them on Wednesday. She says that she just got them on Friday and will ship them out tomorrow.

I don't think they're going to get here on time. And, she didn't even give me a chance to say goodbye before hanging up.

They need to be at the hall by this Thursday.

Should I just print some off of the computer?

How is she shipping them back?

I don't even know anymore. She kept going back and forth about, 'I can use Fedex. I can use UPS' I kept trying to say that since I live in a condo, none of these places will drop the box in front of my door.

I think she decided on UPS, even though I told her that they wouldn't leave my last package. I really don't think they're going to get here in time...

Definitely follow up on 'em; but if they are not there in time you can just have the waitstaff at your hall have charts and instruct everyone where to sit.

Im sorry you're having this problem

I assume you'll be home though as the wedding gets closer (Friday maybe) so maybe you can pick up the package?

Otherwise, if it were me, I'd wait until at least Friday night before starting on printing my own. It would be a waste to do it now if they come in. But that's just me.

Make them on your computer. It will give you piece of mind. And if they dont come in on time at least you wont be stuck with no alternatives. The worst thing that can happen is that you wasted your time making the backup placecards. Better to know you have them, then if you dont!!

Get placecards from the reception hall (most give them to you for free) and have friends/family write the names on them for you. You have enough to worry about!

Why not call your hall & ask if it would be alright if she UPS/ FED-EX them there. Or have them sent to a family members house.

I woudl just call my hall and say they wont be ready on Thursday and that you or someone else will drop them off as soon as you can. They should not have a problem with that.

If I were you, I wouldn't go so crazy as to print up place cards, but maybe a seating chart for back up.

Can you have them shipped to the hall? I would probly print some up quickly just to be on the safe side. I hope it works out though - maybe they'll show up at the last min!

I think shipping them to the hall is a good idea. But then you can't check to make sure they are all correct. You can always give the hall an alphabetical list and have the guests give their name as they enter the reception room after the cocktail hour, and the maitre d' or assistant can give them their table number.

Will your hall provide them???

I think Fed EX has an option where if she signs part of the from, they can leave the package.
Can you have it shipped to your job?

I agree with the have friends& family hand write them. Or maybe do them on your computer, but don't print them out untill you need them. Or can somene else do they on a computer?

I'm considering sending mine out too & am afraid of this problem.

Call the reception hall and tell them your problem. I seriously doubt it would be a big deal if you brought them over to the hall like Friday or even Saturday early.

I was going to suggest having them shipped to your office as well...
