Coming to NY this weekend but not for good reasons/sad and stressed :-(

Hi ladies. Just needing to let off some steam and sadness. I was all set to post here that I am coming to NY this weekend for a work function Sunday and to see who was around Saturday, and was also about to post the proofs that came in from Imagine, when everything sort of took a turn for the worse.

The tooth I had repaired back in January has cracked and I now need to go back to the dentist, who is leaving for vacation for a week starting Saturday. My boss is being very reluctant to having me take Friday as a medical day to get this done, even though I am going up to NY to WORK on Sunday! But we have a major deadline (that I KNOW we're going to miss whether I leave or not) and we're behind through no fault of mine. In the meantime, I am trying to draft a proposal to reduce my work hours so I can take more classes next semester and still have them paid for but not drive myself totally insane.

But all this has now come into perspective because I just got a phone call that the mother of a close friend of mine from high school has passed away. Her death wasn't totally unexpected, as she has been gravely ill for a long time now, but it's very sad just the same. The funeral is Friday morning so now I just have to talk to my boss and tell her I'm going up early. Some things are just more important than work I think.

sometimes it takes a sad situation to put life into perspective. your boss is being a jerk IMO.
