We used them for our 9/2/01 wedding at the Port Jeff Country Club. We loved our flowers and Mr. Cress was really great to work with. I don't know all that much about flowers, so throughout our meeting with him, he explained what he was using and why. He created a sample bouquet on the spot based on what I told him I liked and what he suggested. Everything was exactly right on our wedding day and the delivery was right on time. I was impressed considering it was 8:30 AM on the Sunday morning of Labor Day weekend! Their prices are reasonable and our flowers looked great all day! If you have any specific questions, you can e-mail me at [email protected] Michele

We used them......

We used them for our August wedding. I thought they were wonderfu. Mr. Cress was such a pleasure to work with, and was so patient with us. He had me hold all types of bouquets (round, cascade... etc) That is when I realized that I wanted an arm bouquet. The day of our wedding, they arrived on time-actually early, which I was happy. The delivery man was great, and went over all the flowers. All I have to say is that our flowers and bouquets were absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!! Everyone complimented them. They may be a little pricey, but they were worth every penny.

Comments on James Cress Florists

I hate to rock the boat here, but I just wanted to let you know that we used James Cress for our wedding and were very dissatisfied. On my wedding day when I saw my flowers I almost cried...in horror. The bouquet was three times the size we ordered and he used a ton of babies breath which I specifically told him I didn't want as I hate the look. The flowers were SO heavy I could not hold them naturally or without both hands and I spent the whole day lugging them around like a 20 lb. baby. Our centerpieces (Roses) did not open as promised so the effect was quite different from what we wanted. I must say on their behalf that aside from the flower girls flowers turning brown, and my husband's (2) boutoneers dying that they do have quality flowers. My bridesmaids bouquets were beautiful....but as for mine, I still shudder when I see the proofs in which it looks like I plucked the nearest bush and used it as my bouquet. I chose the pictures for my album mostly from those that did not have my flowers in them. I also should tell you that Mr. Cress himself did not make these bouquets, I believe it was someone new, as he was very apologetic when we called him on this. He offered to make a floral arrangement for us for our trouble. In all fairness he was very professional about this situation, I just wanted to pass on my experience because I have known people who paid A LOT less than us for flowers and they were more stunning.

That all depends what type of centerpiece you want, whether you want simple, or tall ceterpieces. I know the tall and more elaborate ones are about $75 and up. We went with a more simple one, and something flat. I thing we paid about $50. I didnt want anything tall, because I find it annoying to talk with people at the tables, and I wanted to save the $$ and use it towards something different. Also, if they are a house vendor at your hall, they give you $10 off per centerpiece.

Thanks for the info. I just don't want to run out of there crying when I go to check them out and hear the prices. I want to be prepared. Were the boquets in vases w/ water?

No, I dont remeber what they were in. They were round in shape, but not in a vase. They were very big, and definetly well worth the $50. I was NOT going to spend a lot of money for those tall elaborate centerpiecs. When you go, they will have samples to show you, like what sizes, and so forth. Oh, they also provided tapered candles with the centerpieces. Good Luck!!

James Cress-Good but JERK!

Let me preface this by saying I've heard wonderful things about James Cress & that they are suppossed to do great work -- but on a personal basis, when I met with him I thought he was so rude I preferred to burn the money I planned to spend on flowers rather than use him. Basically - I came in with my own strong ideas about what I wanted -- as I found out later from other people -- this OFFENDS Mr Cress -- especially if you have ideas for arrangements that he doesn't want to do. He was very condescending to me. He basically laughed at some of my suggestions - said no - and them looked across to my FI as if to say 'Stupid little girl' -- For example I don't think I need to save money, so I figured no alter flowers (what's the last alter flower bouguet you can remember??) Or the fact that I wanted my bridesmaids to carry pomanders...long story. And boy is he expensive! I wanted bouquets of baby's breath with a ribbon for my pews (I figured simple & cheap) -- he wanted to charge me $15 EACH for them! I mean COME ON! Baby's breath is the stuff you throw in for free. I couldn't even sit through the whole app't. Once he was done with the church Anyway, I ended up go to Burton's so I'm getting a lot more for my money. Even so, if you want a 'strong man' to lead you through the wedding flower process, give him a shot. Even though I think he's a jerk personally, like I said earlier his work is suppossed to be excellent.

James Cress-Good but JERK!

Exactly.....I should have mentioned that as well. He didn't listen to any of my ideas and definitely patronized me. It's smart of you to take heed now! If I had it to do over again I would have told him to forget the whole thing.
