I think it would be great for co-sleeping

Re: comments on this?

there's another version of a cosleeper that is mesh sides. I've seen it more frequently, I've never seen the wood one. I think the mesh one also has another side that comes up if you want to use it that way but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe BRU/Amazon site has it?

I think this product is a little expensive and not sure if it's worth it for the use that you will get out of it. I bought a co-sleeper which is a more popular kind and it turns into a play yard. It's by Arm's Reach. They also make a bassinet size co-sleeper.
Here's the site:

I like the co-sleeper, close enough but not in your bed. I guess your bed would have to be low as well to meet the opening

Shamma, as long as your bed is about 24' (which is standard height of a bed), the height should be fine. If it's taller they have leg extensions available.

wow, Niha, I see they have thought of everything to get our monies for these little crumsnatchers that are not even here yet. I think our bed is a bit on the high side. I'll cross that bridge when I get too it. Thanks tho

Re: comments on this?

I think a bassinette would be nicer, IMO

jennbaby - Do you mean nicer in appearance or function?

How long would this co-sleeper be appropriate? I've never seen anything like this, so I'm curious to hear how it works. I guess I'm used to the baby in a separate room model of child rearing, but open to the alternatives...

Re: comments on this?

The reason i thought this would be good is because I plan to nurse only, no bottles at all for the first year. This would make my nights much easier! Thanks Niha I like yours much better

Valenia most babies are kept in their parents rooms for at least the first couple of weeks

That is interesting. I have never seen one like that. I guess I have quite a lot to learn when it I get to that point.

Re: comments on this?

Stacey, you are right, most people I know have their babies cribs in their rooms. I went to see my GF yesterday and her son's crib was in their room. I think it would be so convienent for nursing and changing.

Re: comments on this?

Not only that but it is better for the baby with bonding and all. If a woman has a c-section she would not have to get up and down, and most important less chance of SIDS

Re: comments on this?

Niha I once again have to thank you, they have a mini co-sleeper too. My DH and I don't have the biggest bedroom so this may be ideal

Re: comments on this?

I think bassinets are very pretty, but not as practical b/c of the weight limit. My logic for the co-sleeper is like Stacey mentioned better bonding with the baby (without risking putting baby in bed with you) and easier to nurse during night feedings (though you still have to get up to change diapers). The max weight for the co-sleeper is about 35 lbs, not sure about the mini-one. We will also have a crib for daytime naps and use at night after about 6 months, or when baby sleeps through the night. I'm not getting a pack n play or playpen, since the co-sleeper converts into one. This is just DH and my opinion on child-rearing, some people think that it's best to get the baby out of your room ASAP, but I don't really believe that.

I meant in function.

Stacey than this may be good for you!
I too will keep baby in my room for first few weeks when my turn comes

Re: comments on this?

My problem is that I was the youngest in my family, and no one close to us had babies after me -- so I'm soooo clueless. Thanks for helping me understand!!!
