I'm just curious to know about invitations. DIY seems to be a lot cheaper but is that really true? Or are DIY invitations at the end of the day comparable in price to professional ones? I'd love to do DIY but only because in my head its cheaper, but it seems that the more research I do, it may not be worth it.

Re: Comparable in Price
It depends on how fancy you want to get. Simple DIY invites ca be very cheap. Mine are going to cost me less then $100 for about 150 invites. I bought 4 kit at Michaels when they were on sale and used a 30% coupon for $75. I am spending $25 on material to jazz them up a little. This is not including the ink or postage. FH is getting them printed for free at his job.

Re: Comparable in Price
When I priced out DIY invitations I would have wound up saving only about $100 - which was definitely not worth the headache to me. BUT I also needed 4 inserts and wanted layered invites. If you're going simple then DIY is probably worth it.

This! My invites came out to be about $1 each doing DIY. I used the Brides kits from Michael's. I didn't include any additional inserts (besides the two that were included in the kit and a direction card for free from my RH!).
I did purchase a few things to jazz them up and they came out beautifully. I printed them on my computer at home for nothing but the cost of ink!
There's a few pics in my album, check 'em out! HTH!

Re: Comparable in Price
Mine were about $1.79 each and I did not have to invest the time required for DIY. I ordered from the americanwedding.com
