Compare prices

I was just adding some stuff into both my registries an realized that the Mikasa 'Cheers Too' Martini, Set of 4 is $59 at Macy's and $34.99 at BBB.

My advice is if you like something and have time, make sure you make the comparisons in items

WOW and that is not a small difference

This is reason why it is so good to do your research. You can may find it cheaper someplace else.

Beautiful set!

Re: Compare prices

Have you checked to see what the Macys price is for that item when it's on sale? It may actually be lower than $39.99 and you can use coupons to get 15% off the sale price.

But BBB has 20% off coupons and anyone can use them - macy's coupons are often times for cardmembers only!

But the BBB coupons are for 1 itme only, whereas the Macys coupons can usually be used all day on multiple items. So, if I want to buy 2 pillows from BBB I would need 2 coupons, whereas I would only need 1 coupon at Macys. And since I and pretty much all my relatives are card members at Macys, it's much better place for us to shop. So, Macys doesn't s*ck for everyone.

problem with macys many times is that you get coupons and then on the back it says what items it cant be applied to and its half the store. Since i have macy's and bloomingdales cards i always get them in the mail, almost every week and i barely get to use them

Re: Compare prices

macy's is like that. the only time they actually compete w/ the prices @ BBB is when items go on sale. but even still, guests can get the BBB 20% coupon, so no matter what, macy's is on the losing end of the price war.

I agree! Besides that BBB offers a 10% off on ALL (not just one) items guest did not get from your registry and you can even apply another 20% on top of that from a coupon....YAY!!!!!

BBB is usally a lot cheaper than macys, especially with the 20% coupon

Re: Compare prices

i have found that BBB regular prices are about the same as Macy's 'sale prices' (essentially their regular prices, since items are rarely listed at the overinflated original price).

However, Macys prices fluctuate (sometimes cheaper, sometimes at the original price ) while BBB prices seem to stay the same.

Judging by our registries, people seemed to prefer shopping at BBB for whatever reason, and they have a better return policy, so we put whatever we could on BBB. Macys does carry some things BBB does not, so we are also registered there for other things.

Macy's has a better rewards program IMO -- a free tote and bridal mag subscription for registering, a % of all money purchased off your registry goes to you in gift card form after the wedding, and to a charity of your choice if you want. I think they also have the completion bonus.

You dont have to choose one or the other, but overall I prefer BBB.

Re: Compare prices

Also items are often on sale online but when you get to the Macys store they tell you that its an 'online only' price or that weddingchannel.com just 'uses' Macys name so the two stores are completely different. My FH had a problem there 2 weeks ago when he went to buy something for a shower I was going to....he wasn't given the sale price and had to talk to a manager. Even then he was only given the sale price AFTER he mentioned that we would be registering for our own wedding soon. When I was there yesterday the same thing happened to me but I was told to bring the printout of the sale price and then they would honor it.

I haven't even registered with them yet and am not thrilled with how they treated people buying from registries or how they treated FH...the woman rolled her eyes at him when he told her he knew it was on sale. OH and she initially lied to him and said she was looking at the site online and there was no sale price...but he was on the phone with me and I knew she was wrong.

I registered for opal innocence china at macys and then realized that BBB's regular price for the same exact set was the macy's sale price.

so now I only have a few items on my macys registry
