Complaining about the holidays...:(

Does anyone have a person in their life that is always complaining about the holidays?? How its too much, how they dont want to do it anymore, how they cant wait for it to be over??

Well I do..and as much as I understand how they are feeling, it frustrates me as well. It upsets me because this person has had many more christmases than I have had and it tends to bring me down. Now I find myself wishing for the holiday to be over too when in actuality, I am a christmas freak!

I understand as you get older, things get so much harder but sometimes I wonder if it would be better if this person could just sort of keep quiet about it?

Anyone else have one of those people in their lives?

yup my mom is totally like that sometimes... i think after having xmas at her house for so many years in a row, it can become a pain in the arse. i kinda can't blame her, my father is no help

just don't pay attention... try and tune it out. start your own christmas-y traditions with your FH/DH and don't let this person get you down!

she doesnt exchange gifts with my dad, and now doesnt exchange with my brother... and tells me not to get her anything(and offers me whatever i buy her)

she didnt get a real wreath this year like past years... and didnt get a tree!!!!!!!!!!!

she claims shes going to get a little tree because of the new years eve party(all for show)

yup - my mom. has been doing it all our lives.

I AM NOT HAVING *%&^*ING CHRISTMAS THIS YEAR!

That kind of thing. Mixed with depression over the holidays, crying in front of the tree, and then like freaking out and screaming if she hears the Barbra Streisand version of Jingle Bells.

It's a hard thing to deal with and miraculously I LOVE Christmas - I think as a result of it. My younger sister and I have really risen above it and singlehandedly have saved the day with our humor, keeping traditions alive, etc. I can only pray that my daughter will benefit from all that. It's hard when your mom hates it. It really is hard to overcome.

Well, actually my grandmother has a way of being very negative sometimes. We just have to ignore her comments when she gets that way. For example: She asked me what we bought for my uncle and when I told her, she said 'Ugh, he hates that!' What? She made me feel horrible. I told her 'well, thats too bad, I bought his gifts and wrapped them.'
