Ok.... So, we ordered our invitations and are waiting for them in the mail. Our outter envelope has our return address on it and the inside rsvp set does too. But in terms of writing the guests address on the outter envelope- am I better off feeding each one through on my printer or sending them out to be done?
I've been trying to do as many DIY things as possible- to save money and to make it more personable but.... When I made the programs, I ended up spending more money on ink than if I had ordered the programs completely done.
So I wonder if if's more cost effective to send them some place to get done OR to do them myself on my printer.
What do you ladies all think? And if you think we should send it out.... Can you please suggest some places with decent prices?? Thanks

Re: Computer Caligraphy Verse Sending them somewhere?
I didnt check into caligraphy, but I def. think it will be more costly than the ink for the printer.
I tried to print mine on my ink jet printer at home, but it 'ate' the envelopes. The lineing was too thinck.
I ended up going to my mom's office to print on the lazer jet.
Definitely try one yourself before making the decision. You printer might work fine. (mine is crap)
If I didnt know anyone w/ a lazer- I would have had them done.

Ours is being done at the place where we purchased the invitations. We're doing envelopments and everywhere we went the places were telling us that we had to put the invites together ourselves. And I Quote does all of it for you. Honestly, I'd let someone else do it so you know its done right.

Doing them yourself is definitely less expensive. This is what we were planning to do but we were not able to. My envelopes were unable to feed through the printer so we had to send them out to be hand done. If you want to send them out..check out A Bridal Paperie. I highly recommend her and she is an LIW vendor. She was MUCH cheaper than anyone else and fit into my budge. HTH

What we did was buy the Avery labels at Staples & do them ourselves. I printed them at work - so there was no wear & tear on my home computer printer.
The font I used was: Freehand591BT - it looks like BEAUTIFUL handwriting - really...it's in our program - if you want to check out the pic.
Get CLEAR labels & NO ONE will notice the difference. I was complimented several times about the writing...

Re: Computer Caligraphy Verse Sending them somewhere?
We originally planned on using the clear Avery labels, but tried one envelope just printing straight on it and it turned out great.
We had to do a couple tests to make sure the font size was correct and it was centered as best as possible, but I'm so happy with the way they came out.
We used Lucida Calligraphy size 16 on the outer envelopes, and size 20 for the inner envelopes.
It was definately cost effective, but time consuming. I chose to hand feed the printer one envelope at a time--but only to make sure nothing got messed up.

I'm going to print ours at home on each envelope.
How many programs did you make and how many pages? I'm only doing a front and back on nice cardstock and printing 50 at most.

I would definitely need someone to do the calligraphy as I am soo not computer literate and wouldnt want to take the chance doing them myself. Does anyone know a calligrapher??

I think you save money by doing them at home, but it's a big headache. So if you can afford to save yourself the headache then get them done somewhere. Yes DIY are nice, but in this case there's no personal touch here, so I would say go for it.

Re: Computer Caligraphy Verse Sending them somewhere?
Thanks ladies! I have been going back and forth with this for a while. We used our DOC for the invitations but she didnt mention being able to do the caligraphy for us. She actually was really nice and explained how to do it ourselves.
When we did the programs-we made 300. They were mostly in black ink but our monogram and a few other things were in green. We went through 3 combo packages of ink- thats $150 just for the ink.
This would just be the black ink- and only 150 to do. I have an okay printer- nothing great but it's decent. Hmmmmm... Still not sure!
