Computer Question

We need a new computer. We currently have a PC. FH now wants to get a Mac. I think I am just nervous to make the jump.

Does anyone have positives/negatives for me? Advice?

Re: Computer Question

I have a PC but MACS are SOOOO MUCH BETTER. They dont have nearly as many viruses as PCs. Theyre just overall better computers. Its gonna take you a while to get used to it but once you do, theres no going back.

I've used macs before for work and they take getting used to. People I know that have macs love them and dont' ever plan on switching back. I personally like my PC. Then again, I don't like change with that kind of stuff.

I am a tech geek & like them both. For graphics Mac rock. for access wise PC rule (they r everywhere).

The only reason I do not have a mac myself is that I have more access to cheaper high end software for the PC than the mac. I would have to restart my library & can't afford it.
Something to think about as most computer come with some software but not everything you need. PLus you have to worry about sending things to people cross platform too

Re: Computer Question

Korin,

For me personally I LOVE LOVE LOVE my PC.

But i know people who swear by their MAC. I feel that unless you will be using the MAC for graphics and stuff i would stick with the good old trusty PC!

Re: Computer Question

I just got my Macbook yesterday. My HP laptop went on me this week so I decided to try the Mac because a lot of people really like it. I was so nervous getting it thought because I didn't want to learn how to use it. But my brother told me to get the Windows XP OEM or the Windows Vista OEM and it is like using my HP laptop. It is great. I really like it.

He told me the OEM program because it is a lot cheaper. Instead of paying like $200-$300 I only paid $129.

I am also a bit of a tech geek and for the same reasons I love my PC- for graphics though Macs are really the way to go imo.

What did you end up deciding? the mac or PC?

& what's wrong. What mean people are you talking about?

I agree with both ladies...def. a PC unless you do graphics and such...

Re: Computer Question

I just bought my Mac in November. I splurged and it was the best money I ever spent. Not only do I learn new things everyday about it, I just love how fast and easy it is. It takes a little while to get used to it but then I think you'll like it. You can always go into any apple store and check out the computers.

Re: Computer Question

I agree with most people. I was a tech geek and swore by PCs...when I switched to education, Mac was more ubiquitous. There's nothing I can't do on my Mac that I could on the PC and it is much more navigable. And no threat of viruses. I have a black macbook and love it. Once you go black, you never go back.

Re: Computer Question

I have used both extensively through college and at work. I think they both have downfalls but MAC seems to be a little more stable.

I was only saying that people were being mean because they voted for the option that I was bothering them. I was just being sensitive.

I think we are going to go with the Mac. We went to the apple store yesterday and checked them out. FH and I both work with graphics and I would love to have the option to do more! We are going to go back tomorrow or Monday.

Thanks for all your input, ladies!!
