computer savy people- need help!!!!!

I am trying to use the dateabase program in the newest version of microsoft works. I was able to create 3 fields and now I want to alphabetize them. The first field lets me alpha it, but when I do the 2nd or 3rd field, it screws up all the fields and puts them all out of order! GRrrrrrrr
The help function is no help at all!

Please help ASAP!
