Concern...

Concern...

so as you ladies might have encountered with some blogs saying wedding is off, or canceling wedding...etc....It has come to my head like wow....things happen when you least expect them! Like I know FH and I are def getting married on our date but sometimes the thought of what if we don't have enough money, or it will seem like it's tough, what if we end up canceling our wedding? this will really devastate me. I know for some ladies who have canceled their wedding is because either they are saving more for it, or they are moving to another place, but the scariest part is that some people just break up. I do feel bad for those ladies who after engaged realized that their FH are not what they expect or that the relationship is not going well because of mutual disagreements. Have you ladies worried about these things???

Yes of course. I'm even scared now. With whats been happening in the markets, we are laying off people like crazy in my company soon and i'm afraid i am going to go too.

i was just about to post something similar. i am so nervous with this falling stock market & with these companies filling for bankruptcy. i am graduating college in the spring after 6 long years & i don't know what i am going to do if i can't get a job. FH has already said if worse comes to worse he will be willing to use some of his investment money to pay for the wedding as long as we put it back ASAP. i don't want that to happen because he only has that money because FFIL passed & we both want to save that money for a house.

It is scary...you never know what can happen. That's part of why we moved in together before getting engaged. We wanted to know what we were getting into!!

I had a very close friend my Fres/Soph years of college...our Jr year we roomed together and discovered we didn't get along at all!!!!

Luckily with FH things have been smooth sailing, despite his desire to have pizza every night for dinner!!!!

You can't fear what you can't control. You could wake up tomorrow and realize that marriage is not what you want, you could get fired.......the possibilities are endless. Why make yourself crazy over it when there are SO many other things to worry about.

That said, I do have a fear about the wedding not happening due to one of us getting sick or someone passing away. Read an article the other day in Modern Bride about having to postpone the wedding due to the bride or groom getting cancer or something. That scared the crap out of me.

Couldn't have said it better Amanda!

Things always happen for a reason.

Im always scared about money too. If we had to cancel the wedding I would be devistated. I also have an irrational fear i'll get pregnant and then i'll be embarrased to have wedding with a big belly so i'll cancel.

I read the same article and started to cry while i was reading it.
All of us get so consumed in whats going on with our wedding 'problems' (oh the color doesnt match close enough, oh this person isnt liking what my decision is, oh i dont like how this worked out...) Yes the problems we face are irritating and feel like the end of the world, but think of how much worse they could be, you could be diagnosed with cancer 6 weeks before your wedding!!!

Yes, the financial world is on everyone's minds...but try to work hard, save what you can, and dont worry about what tomorrow can bring...you might end up spending all of your time anxious over the future and miss whats happening in the present...

I sometimes have fears like the ones everyone else described, but try not to make myself two nuts. I work in technology and FH works in construction...with the current market...who knows what can happen. But things have a way of working themselves out. Money is the least of my worries when I hear all sorts of other sad stories.

A friend of a friend was set to marry this summer...two months before the wedding the groom went into cardiac arrest and died. The invitations had just gone out! I cant even imagine how she handled it.

I worry about these things all the time. You're definatly not alone there!

Just the thought of having to postpone or cancel my wedding is horrible. I would think it would be devastating to me. I'm so invested right now in this.

I don't worry about these things. If we can't buy a house: we'll rent. I've been laid off before and while it's horrible: I can always temp while looking for a new job.

The market is crazy I just about freaked over my 401k balance last week, but I can't control that. My job is stable, I'll be OK... FH will be fine he graduates in May and already has a stable job lined up. We'll work it out.

If I became pregnant.. .I could still have the baby in time for the wedding, if it happens right before the wedding or whatever... I'll adjust and deal.

You gotta just do what you can... and when something happens you face the problem and adapt.

I'm scared right now. I work for WAMU and we are getting slammed by the media. It's very frustrating

Re: Concern...

II was a Nov 2008 bride, but we had to change the date because we want to get the house first and then spend more time planning the wedding the way we want. I think because we are both over 40 we look at it as what doesn't kill us will make us strong. So roll with the punches. I know you didn't want to hear that but I was just sharing.

Re: Concern...

Sometimes I worry that I will end up paying for this wedding on my own for FH's unfortunate financial situation at the moment. I'm sure he'll have it resolved but in the mean time if we need to leave a deposit for something I'm the one leaving it.

I'm just hoping he gets his **** together cause as long as we don't have a place of our own I don't see this working with all the sneaking around we have to do get our 'alone time'. He's 25 and needs to focus.

I just don't think he knows how to manage/save his money. I tell him I don't want to eat out anymore to save money and he thinks I'm being ridiculous and it doesn't have to come to that.

I'm just frustrated this morning cause if he doesn't get his crap together and help me get an apartment by the end of this year (or begining of next) I don't know how this is going to work anymore.

Re: Concern...

I'm regretting ordering my dress. I'm contemplating canceling it.

I think I'm giving FH an ultimatum. He needs to move out by around end of year or I'm gone. I seriously can't wait anymore. I've been hearing for the past two years that 'we'll have our play by end of year'.... two 1/2 years later we are both still living at home and I can't manage the relationship under the condition of his mother and all the sneaking around we have to do. It's not normal. It's not healthy.

Maybe I'm just having an off day... or maybe I'm thinking clearly for once. I don't know. I just wish I could go home right now and crawl into bed & cry.,
