Concern at TWOTY

Original post by JLWSJC

I really thought all day about whether I was going to post this on the boards or just FM CS, but I decided I should post, althought it might seem silly to some. I'm also going to send CS a link to this post because I think they should know.

When FH and I got home from TWOTY, he realized all the quarters from the change holder int he cup holder on his center console were missing.

The dimes and nickels were still there and it doesn't have a slot for pennies this this one does. He's anal about keeping the change stocked until you can't fit anymore in each slot. He keeps extra change and all the pennies in the cup underneath and restocks the slots whenever he uses some, so we know it was full when we valeted the car. Also, that extra change in the bottom wasn't touched, just the coins in the slot.

The actual loss of change is not a big deal, but I know that FH purposely keeps nothing of value in his car, and if he does, he has a valet key so that you can't access anything except the door and the ignition (ie, you can't open the glove box) but I know that other people keep things like GPS units and other valuables in their cars and they don't have valet keys. I hope no one else is missing anything, and even though it's not right, it's not such a big deal that the quarters are missing, I'm just concerned about what it might mean for other people who valet their cars at CLM.

I called CLM this afternoon and spoke to Lou. He was very concerned and very apologetic and he told me he was going to talk to the GM about it and see if any other complaints came in. Really, his sincere response and his apology were enough for me, I just hope no one else got ripped off more seriously.
Also, I'm not considering this a reflection on CLM as any place can hire a person who might decide not to do the right thing, so I don't blame them. I just think the particular valet that did it is a jerk. I hope he really needed the money THAT badly to have to steal quarters... that's a sad state of affairs.

Anyway, that's it. Moral of the story: Make sure you check your car and make sure nothing is missing.

ETA, FH tipped the guy at the end of the night, too, ... do people usually tip when they leave the car or when they pick it up? At the end of the night, usually, right? Cause FH always gives the valet at least $5 which I think is a decent tip, but he always gives it after... I wonder if that would have made a difference.

That is really horrible. I'm not gonna lie we had no issue with the valet but if one of them would have opened the door I would have walked back inside or called from the car. I would DEFINATELY call because if these are not house valets then they need to use a different company.

Sorry ladies

Wow this is crazy!! I was lucky enough to run into a nice valet that let me self park in a close spot b/c my door has been jamming and I didn't want them messing it up any more! At first he was like NO we HAVE to valet but after continuing to explain he let me park myself. Guess he thought it was a missed tip if I parked it!

The valet service was so unprofessional ! They hit my car and I have to now try and have them fix it the office has been closed all weekend. I'm beyond furious....

WOW That is a HUUUUGE peeve of mine. I always tip, and I normally overtip but no way in hell would they get a dime from me if they asked me so rudely.

When we pulled up the valet said 'hurry up, hurry up' and FH looked at me like W T F is his deal? It was his tone that was really rude. Not the way you want to be greeted at a wedding

wow that's totally not cool - regardless of the value, nothing should be taken out of your car when being valet. Anney, we were right in front of you and FH thought that dude was quite rude as well when he was telling us to hurry up - there was NO WHERE for us to hurry up to - he was beyond obnoxious and FH totally didn't appreciate it

Re: Concern at TWOTY

I am just beyond words - tipping a valet is NOT a must. You tip based on the type of service so for starters the fact that some of them were DEMANDING a tip is a huge problem.

More then likely CLM hires and outside company and they NEED to know about his unprofessionalism.

The stealing is a whole other ballgame - it's just disgusting!!!!! No matter what they take or how much - they should NOT be touching anthing else in the car other then what is needed to park it and return it back to you.

All you ladies who experienced something should call.

Jaime - what has CS said about this?

OMG Now I am going to have to check my car tonight. Luckily, I put the GPS away in the glove compartment and closed it. I would have been pissed. Although change may not seem like a big deal, the principle is the same...they stole your propertly. I am sorry this happened to you and the other girls. I hope CLM fixes the issue!!!

wow that is annoying.. I am so paranoid about stuff like that.. FH leaves his gps in his car all the time and when we pulled up to the parking lot I told him to hide it becaue you just never know. Its so annoying how dishonest people can be sometimes

Something very similar happened to us also!!! We got in the car and didn't have the change at first so I was going for my bag to get change for FH to give to him. I couldn't find it and the valet guy started opening the door saying 'I need a tip. I have change, this is my job I need to get a tip' and I told him Im trying to find change and he kept going at it - it was so rude!!! So as a result, we just drove away and didn't give him anything. So annoying.

This also happened to us. FH only had big bills and didn't have any change. The guys requested he get a tip because he wasn't getting paid for his services. He made it known and was so rude about it. Like seriously I understand but you don't have to be an *** about it. Since I already felt embarrassed, I felt like I had no other choice but to give him my $2 bill that I had in my car for good luck. I was so pissed at his attitude and the fact that I no longer had my $2 bill for good luck. SO RUDE!!!!
So happy you posted this.

Re: Concern at TWOTY

That's AWFUL. Valets shouldn't even ACCEPT tips even when they are offered. ***???? CLM brides need to see into this immediately.

JLWSJC, this was definitely worth mentioning!

I didn't notice anything missing, but my side mirror has been messed up since then, just general valet stuff.

Sorry that happened to you!

Wow. All you girls that had tips demanded of you should call CLM. They should not hire that valet company anymore, or request that those specific people not work there anymore. They should keep a record of who parked which car, so they should know if you give them the license plate, and describe those guys! I don't think valet's get only tips! And they really should be sharing them if different people are parking and bringing the cars out. Most people tip at the end, not both (unless you were a valet like my FH). Extreme unprofessional behavior.

yep I gave the man that took my ticket the tip it was 50 minutes and I was freezing. my tip should have been dont make me wait 50 minutes and expect a tip I gave a tip it just wasnt handed to him and since when are tips required i always thought it was based on service and their serviced ****** to of the valets kept taking eachothers hats instead of getting cars

'12er crashing

We went to FH's friends wedding there 2years ago and waited an insanely long time for our car as well. I think they only had 2 valets working at the end of the night. FH was so fed up, he went into the key box, took his keys and got his car himself.

Re: Concern at TWOTY

So I spoke to nick at clm. Apparently the valet company is used at many rh and places in general..parking systems is the name of the company. He told me that anyone with an issue can call him and he is having a meeting with the owner tonight. Call your rhs and make sure they don't use them and if so be careful. Hth

Re: Concern at TWOTY

thank you jamie for posting this! I am definitely concerned about this company now. I have to check my car. And honestly, that is totally rude for a valet to be asking for a tip. that should never happen, and I would be mortified if that happened at my wedding... I am really hoping that this issue gets solved SOON!

I aqm sorry to you girls that this affected also.
