Concern at TWOTY

Original post by JLWSJC

I really thought all day about whether I was going to post this on the boards or just FM CS, but I decided I should post, althought it might seem silly to some. I'm also going to send CS a link to this post because I think they should know.

When FH and I got home from TWOTY, he realized all the quarters from the change holder int he cup holder on his center console were missing.

The dimes and nickels were still there and it doesn't have a slot for pennies this this one does. He's anal about keeping the change stocked until you can't fit anymore in each slot. He keeps extra change and all the pennies in the cup underneath and restocks the slots whenever he uses some, so we know it was full when we valeted the car. Also, that extra change in the bottom wasn't touched, just the coins in the slot.

The actual loss of change is not a big deal, but I know that FH purposely keeps nothing of value in his car, and if he does, he has a valet key so that you can't access anything except the door and the ignition (ie, you can't open the glove box) but I know that other people keep things like GPS units and other valuables in their cars and they don't have valet keys. I hope no one else is missing anything, and even though it's not right, it's not such a big deal that the quarters are missing, I'm just concerned about what it might mean for other people who valet their cars at CLM.

I called CLM this afternoon and spoke to Lou. He was very concerned and very apologetic and he told me he was going to talk to the GM about it and see if any other complaints came in. Really, his sincere response and his apology were enough for me, I just hope no one else got ripped off more seriously.
Also, I'm not considering this a reflection on CLM as any place can hire a person who might decide not to do the right thing, so I don't blame them. I just think the particular valet that did it is a jerk. I hope he really needed the money THAT badly to have to steal quarters... that's a sad state of affairs.

Anyway, that's it. Moral of the story: Make sure you check your car and make sure nothing is missing.

ETA, FH tipped the guy at the end of the night, too, ... do people usually tip when they leave the car or when they pick it up? At the end of the night, usually, right? Cause FH always gives the valet at least $5 which I think is a decent tip, but he always gives it after... I wonder if that would have made a difference.

I read this and had to check they leaft 13 pennies in my cup holder thats ridiculous I know I had a ton of change in it because I hate change and just throw the change in the cup holder *guess they dont like pennies*. I tipped when I handed the first guy the ticket but someone else brough my car to me and he demanded a tip and held my door open because i guess the first guy didnt give him the dollars but I was so ticked after waiting 50 minutes i just said I didnt have it. I guess he took his tip before he brought me my car. Only change is gone my ipod and stuff still there but seriously what nerve

was he an older man?

He yelled at me too when I didn't give him a tip at first. I tipped the first guy $10 bucks, and all I had left was 2 bucks after tipping the bar tenders all night. I felt bad, but I thought it was so rude to flat out ask someone for a tip...

ugh!

I would definitely raise it as a concern. I'd be mortified if this happened to my guests!

Wow that's sooo messed up!!! I hope they reconsider using that valet company! I know quarters don't seem like a big deal to people but it's still your property and def not theirs to take!! plus even tho it's 100% not their fault the rh will always get the complains and it makes them look bad sorry this happened to some of u ladies

when me and fh were leaving twoty the guy who valet our car for us knocked on the window and got mad that fh did not give him a tip, he got mad and started cursing my fh out. all my fh wanted to do was get in the car before he did anything because he was cold and had forgotten his jacket and YES HE WAS GOING TO TIP. after that little incident we drove away and needless to say this 'valet' did not get the tip that he thought he deserved.

He should call!. The way people got treated is NOT right and we have a lot of girls on here getting married at CLM who do not need these issues. I can't imagine how embarrassed the bride and groom would be if this had been a real wedding that they had paid for with hard earned money to have their guests treated badly and stolen from! Horrible!

Re: Concern at TWOTY

Something very similar happened to us also!!! We got in the car and didn't have the change at first so I was going for my bag to get change for FH to give to him. I couldn't find it and the valet guy started opening the door saying 'I need a tip. I have change, this is my job I need to get a tip' and I told him Im trying to find change and he kept going at it - it was so rude!!! So as a result, we just drove away and didn't give him anything. So annoying.

Re: Concern at TWOTY

So sucks.

I work at a high end car dealership

we had complaints that change was missing from a few cars that were put through the car wash.

So the Manager set everyone up, and marked 2 dollars worth of quarters with black dots (using a sharpie)
on a friends car (who was a customer)

Well after the car came out of the wash bay the change was MISSING

he called a meeting of every valet, and made everyone turn out their pockets.

valet with leper quarters was fired immediately

YOU LOST A FULL PAYCHECK A WEEK,
FOR TWO DOLLARS WORTH OF CHANGE!!

This whole thing is so messed up. Off the bat, the known theft from the cars is terrible. But how classless is KNOCKING ON WINDOWS and opening doors demanding a tip?????? Imagine this was a real wedding?? I'd be beyond horrified.

Re: Concern at TWOTY

and I agree, the person demanding tips
NEEDS TO BE FIRED ASAP

I would be HORRIFIED if my guest got 'shaken down' for tips

that is tasteless, rude, and unacceptable!
