i prefer to stay on LI but no worries cause FH is an island boy!! LOL
If you can do home on LI i say GO FOR IT!!!!

FI and I are in an apartment right now but we are saving to buy house. We are most likely going to stay in Queens because the majority of our family lives there, plus they neighborhood we live in is very nice and safe.

FI & I actually bought a house in queens last year so luckily we got that out of the way; our (my) main focus right now is the wedding. Trying to get all these plans in order and decorate the house at the same time!

I like the idea of a home on long island better than condo NYC but honestly both are still nice!...for us i think it would depend on where most of my family is. I'm def going to need my mom's babysitting services when it comes time for that lol.

we're currently living with my parents so I'm not much help.... Either would be great! I would prefer the home on LI but I don't see that in our future for a while especially with paying for the wedding

ever since I could remember, I have ALWAYS wanted to own a house in long island. Thank goodness I found a hubbie who always wanted to do the same. We're Queens kids, but always wanted the big deck, backyard, and pool. I can't see us anywhere else! And now that we're getting married, we also consider the great school districts and high property taxes of owning a home on the island. There are pros and cons to each. To me, having the house I have dreamed of since I was a little girl, and having a great place to raise my children, take priority. So as soon as the wedding is complete, we will be saving for that down payment for our dream home!

Thats a very personal decision... seems like you're thinking more out loud than anything else... As for us, we are in contract for a condo out on the island... DH's job is out here so it just makes sense... We chose a condo because right now, we really dont need a backyard and the upkeep needed for a house... We want to still maintain our current lifestyle without having to work on something on the house every weekend... Plus, the taxes were lower!
We figure we'll try for that house when we have kids that will be able to enjoy having a bigger area to play around in
