I know that buying them is convenient, but making them is so much cheaper! I made them and they came out great. I bought a package of vellum in Odd Job for $1.99 (it has 20 sheets of paper). I'm not 100% sure what size paper, but it is oversized and square. I cut the paper into quarters. Then, turning the paper in the shape of a diamond, you roll in into a cone and use double sided tape to secure. You can leave them like that (which looks just like the ones sold on the website) or you can take it a step further like I did. Up by the front opening of the cone punch 2 small holes next to each other. Take ribbon and wrap it around the back of the cone and weave it through the holes and tie it in a bow. They came out great and I made 80 of them for about $4. If I had skipped the ribbon, it just would have been the cost for paper.

nferrandi, did you make already for Oct 9? My wedding is Oct 1. I think I am going to make them too.

Yeah, I just made them last weekend, I'll probably make a few more. My friend saw them on my kitchen table and asked why I did them so far in advance and I told her I would rather do them now and be done with them than have to worry about them at the last minute. If I waited until I was stressed out, I probably wouldn't wind up doing a lot of the little 'extra' things I've done.

hmmmm... maybe I should make them now, I have more time now... How many did you make? If my guarentee is 85 and I am hoping to have only have 85, how many do you think?

May I FM if I run into problems making them? I am not to crafty.

If you have the time, go ahead and make them now, it will be one less thing to worry about later. I usually do stuff like this while I'm watching TV. I'm having 200 poeple and I'm probably going to make 100-120 cones, only because I don't want to make a huge mess with the petals. If you're hoping for 85 people, I would probably make 60 cones. Feel free to FM me if you need any help.

Do you think it is a good idea to make cones for wedding rice or jsut for petals? I am not sure what to put the rice in and was thinking of the cones...any thoughts? I dont want to put them in wrapped tulle....
