Confession!

I have been on this website for some time now and I feel that I have been holding back. I love the advice and ideas that I get on this site but have been afraid to share much about my wedding because it is 'untraditional' and some people may not agree with it. But, I feel that I must get it out. I am a lesbian and I am having a commitment ceremony. But at the same time it is exactly like a 'traditional' wedding in every sense but that I am marrying a girl not a guy.
I am very 'girlie' and have always dreamed of the fairytale wedding. Luckily I have come into contact with numerous vendors that have been open and accepting of my situation. I think that I would have been devastated if I could not have the wedding of my dreams.
I hope that I am not offending anyone and that I will still be a welcome member on the boards, but I just felt that I was almost lying when I came on here and wanted to be truthful! Thanks!! I hope you have an amazing wedding....jsut because your a lesbian you shouldnt be treated differently!! and anyone who thinks so can go **** themselves...you dont need that crap! im planning a fairtyale wedding to so if you need anything FM me....where are you having your ceremony?

having the wedding of your dreams should not be affected by your sexual orientation....

I think I can speak for most of the posters here in not all.. you are still welcomed on this site... I can't imagine why you wouldn't be... best of luck and happy planning!

Welcome and congratulations! We've probably all dreamed since we were young of finding the love of our lives and having a gorgeous wedding - and that's just what you're doing. You're picking a gown, flowers, favors, and all that stuff to marry the person of your dreams, so you've got so much in common with all of us, and so much to chat about, and that's what counts. Thank you all so much for the support! I CANNOT tell you how much it means to me! We are having our ceremony at Giorgio's also. A good friend of mine is an ordained minister and he is going to do the ceremony. as of right now it doesn't really matter who does the ceremony because it is not legal, but maybe a miracle will happen in the next year and change that.

Welcome!!! It doesn't matter who you're marrying. You will still have the same questions, problems, concerns, etc to discuss. Everyone on these boards marries the person of their dreams. That's what this is all about. If anyone has a problem with that, then they can just not reply to any of your threads. But if they bash you, then they have to contend with us!!!!

Every girl deserves to have her dream wedding and as long as you are in love with who you plan to spend the rest of your life screw what anyone else thinks.

So what if some don't agree! There'll be plenty gals like me who'll be more than willing to offer advice to you and to be a 'friend' as you plan your wedding! I'm sure you feel better now too!

i, too, am sorry that you felt that you couldn't just be you.

just, today, there was a post from someone new who used (what we consider to be) 'offensive' language. she said what another girl wanted to do was 'tacky'. we POUNCED on how that is wrong. so, if anyone EVER says anything hurtful, we do NOT allow it.

that being said, congratulations on finding the person you want to spend the rest of your life with and happy planning

AND, CONGRATS ON CHOOSING SUCH A WONDERFUL DAY FOR YOUR WEDDING... one year after mine

Who cares? It doesn't matter that you are a lesbian. We all want the same thing-to marry the person of our dreams and have a perfect wedding. I appreciate the honesty. Never be afraid to share who you are-especially on here. If someone doesn't like it-they shouldn't be on this website. Congrats and happy planning.

I agree with everyone else! Welcome and don't be ashamed of your sexual orientation. If it offends someone it's their problem not yours! Most of my friends are gay males and I think it's awesome for people to openly accept their sexuality and not give a damn what anyone thinks. Congrats on your wedding and I'm sure it will be your dream come true. Don't be such a stranger and share all the planning details and questions with us I also agree that if someone on the board has a problem with you being on here, we got your back.!

Welcome! You are going to get the BEST ideas here... be prepared to have your budget swell a bit!

You are going to have an amazing day surrounded by people who love and understand you without judgement. And the girls on here are all amazing - so you will have a great planning support group who will love and understand you without judgement!

One of my friends was considering getting married in Massachussetts or New Hampshire. Have you thought of doing the ceremony there and the reception at Giorgio's? Tom's reasoning is that he wants to celebrate his committment in a state that understands that love comes in a lot of different shades.
