I love that book! You should read the sequels, too. They are great: Shopaholic Takes Manhattan and Shopaholic Ties the Know.

Re: Confessions of a shopaholic
I think Im the only person who got sick reading this book. I realize its just fiction but I felt like there are a lot of people who will read this book and think its normal to be so in debt and that some magical miracle will save you from your problems.
I know its just fiction so Im taking it too seriously but I thought it was such a bad image of women that I didnt like it.

I see what you are saying. I think I liked it so much because I saw things in there that I do, like buying things I don;t need, buying something that I already have and don't remember....(but I am not in debt like that, thank goodness)
Actually, the book inspired me to get my finances together and stop buying so much!
DH bought me the other two for christmas- I can't wait to read them.

Re: Confessions of a shopaholic
The shopping thing didnt bother me (b/c i think everyone shops too much to some extent) as much as the underlying concept that women are too stupid to manage their money. I swear im not a psycho feminist and I dont see an anti women plot in everything but this just struck me. The women in the book is not only bad at managing her finances but she is a terrible employee, friend and family member.

I almost finished this book while on my honeymoon...I've only got a couple more pages to go...I really enjoyed this book and plan on reading the sequels.

Re: Confessions of a shopaholic
I just thought it was pretty amusing - the character went to extremes and that is part of creative writing - but I think most women can see themselves in her - just not the extent that she went to in certain cases!

I totally agree and during reading the book, kept thinking to myself 'is anyone really THIS stupid about their money'?
Trust me, I am no stranger to indulgence, but I totally know my limits!

Re: Confessions of a shopaholic
So far, I've read Confessions of a Shopaholic and Shopaholic Takes Manhattan...they were so good and such easy reads...
I just bought Shopaholic Ties the Knot yesterday and started reading it on the way home on the train...something seemed different about the book to me...
I don't know if I'm liking this last one in the series...but, I've only read about 15 pages...

I agree with you completely. This is just my opinion, but I never understood why people like these books so much. What a waste of money and time for me!
