Confuse!

Confuse!

I recently became a member of this website because I've been reading all of the Brides' reviews and I find it very helpful. I am aiming for a 2010 wedding. I've looked already at several places but every time i check the reviews sometimes it just makes me doubt I really just sometimes get impatient because I guess I still have more to deal with. My fiancee and I have already looked at the following:

1. Beckwith Pointe (New Rochelle) my FH loves, I like it a lot but don't like the fact the cocktail hour is divided by a sliding wall. This guy named Michael assured their food was great but i've been reading the reviews and haven't heard anything positive.

2. V.I.P Country Club (New Rochelle) we didn't like it too much the guy who gave us the tour wasn't very excited so we kind of found that place boring.

3. Surf Club (New Rochelle) was so gorgeous but still doubtful about the food.

4. Crest Hollow Country Club (Woodbury) it's just so elegant it looks beautiful but when mentioning the food the guy told us 'you should try our appetizers they are awesome because when it comes to the main course chicken is chicken and beef is beef') and it just threw us off!!!

5. Fox Hollow. (Woodbury) the day we saw it apparently they were polishing the floors and it smelled really bad i got a headache. She showed us the Garden Room and we weren't too impress although Scotto Brothers are supposed to cater pretty amazing meals. My FH's brother had his wedding at the Chateau Briand and the food was outstanding!

6.Jericho Terrace. (Mineola) As soon as I walked in i fell like in another world!!! the place is just so elegant I would say a little too elegant but I loved it! My FH thought it was just way over decorated but the guy that showed us the tour and everything was so cool! and we get a lot of choices in food but i don't know if the food is good in Jericho Terrace...I've been reading great things about the food but the attendants and they organizing itself I've been reading that it's a bit messy CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS ONE!!!????

7. Leonards (Great Neck) We simply just didn't like this place too much although the price seemed reasonable...

So this is my big dilemma I know i might still have to visit other places but I want to walk into a place that I want to say this is it!!! so far my top choices are the Jericho Terrace and Fox Hollow....can someone please help me!!! this is just too hard!!!! NOW I understand what other brides go thru hehe!!! anyway hope this wasn't too long !! bye

Re: Confuse!

I'm biased, because I booked Jericho Terrace, but I think its amazing! We tried the food there it was wonderful- the staff is great, we got SOOOO much thrown in and a wonderful price. I have heard nothing but good things about JT.

On the other hand, I did like Fox Hollow- it just did not have that WOW factor that JT had (for me at least). It's a great RH and I;ve heard great things about Fox Hollow as well. Once again, I'm biased!!

Good luck and welcome to the site!!

Re: Confuse!

I am biased towards Fox Hollow because i booked the Garden Terrace room there. I am having an afternoon wedding in june and i liked the fact that i get to have my cocktail hour outside on the patio (hopefully if the weather is nice) and i've heard the food is good. Maybe you just had a bad experience b/c they were redoing the floors but i would go back maybe when it is set up for a wedding so you can see what it would look like all done up.

I would also recommend you keep looking around if both choices are not that appealing to you. You will know when you've found the RH for you. Good luck on your search!

JMO - I think the food is much better at Fox Hollow but I do agree that JT gives a little bit more of a wow factor. But that also depends on what room you are in. Good Luck!

Re: Confuse!

I'm biased because I did not have a great experience when I went to see Fox Hollow. The director turned me off a bit. However, I have heard good things about the food and the room is gorgeous.

I've been Jericho Terrace, and the food was AMAZING. There was so much at the cocktail hour, the main course was delicious. I missed dessert because I was dancing, but I'm really bummed that I didn't get to try that fresh (warm) canoli with icecream filling.

Re: Confuse!

I am also a Fox Hollow bride... and I love it there, but reading your post it seems as if Jericho Terrace is a place you LOVE. So, I'd go with that.

Fox Hollow is great. I've gotten a great price on a Saturday night wedding and I love my reception room (Winter Garden Pavilion), but if you don't love it... keep looking.

Edited to add: WELCOME and Congratulations!!

Re: Confuse!

first of all, welcome and congrats!!!

im a fox hollow bride, there a bunch of us here for a very simple reason. the place is beautiful, the food is great and the price is reasonable!! what more could you ask for??

i would suggest going back when they arent waxing the floors. lol

what is your minimum?? does it have to be in the winter garden room (which IMHO is absolutely beautiful by the way)

Re: Confuse!

I am a little biased, I am a FH bride. I have been to 2 weddings there, however, and was very impressed with the amount of food and the quality of the food. When I found out the price, I was floored.

We have the Winter Garden Pavilion, but I would recommend going back to both, on a day when Fox isn't rewaxing the floors, and see both in the same day right after the other to get another impression

Re: Confuse!

I've been to Fox Hollow, not Jericho Terrace.

My brother had his reception at Fox Hollow in Sept in the Winter Garden Pavilion. The room was beautiful. My only complaint was the the location of the bar/dance floor/cake table. They had the cake table right next to the dance floor and all I kept thinking was 'oh no, someone will knock over the cake.' The other problem was with the bar - it was on the other corner of the dance floor and it caused the dance floor to get all slippery with the amount of people having to cross the dance floor to get to their table.

go for Westbury Manor

Re: Confuse!

Hello and welcome!!!

This is JMO: I have been to Jericho Terrace many times and never have I been blown away by anything there. I was most turned off by the fact that when I attended a wedding I saw the brides and their bridal parties of the other 2 weddings that were taking place at the same time (one was just finishing and the other one was starting) I didnt like that as a guest (but thats just me) and I didnt think the food was amazing. It was good- but again I have never been blown away. When I went to Fox Hollow the food was delicious and although the decor wasnt me...I thought it was a beautiful place. I would go back and look at it again! Good Luck
