I wanted to add that she knows you are going to be there and probably is not looking forward to you showing your ring and talking about the wedding. I think she feels worse than you.

Re: Confused
It's her fault for staying with him. I would not waste my time for 10 yrs. And he shouldnt be mad at your FH anyway.....he obviously doesnt want to marry her. I say enjoy your day and your whole planning process. Don't feel guilty for being happy and starting a life with FH.

Re: Confused
act the way you would normally. Youre not showing off your ring on purpose You are newly engaged and you are super excited NOTHING wrong with that. In fact you might get more complaints of why you arent wearing your ring

I say just act like you normally do when you see her. If she brings it up you talk about it. I mean I think that your fh cousin needs to either get the girl a ring or let go if he is not interested in marrying her. It's not your fault he hasn't made the move like your FMIL said, enjoy people oooh and aaahing over you and FH, but of course like you said don't rub it in her face.
Ditto!

Re: Confused
UGH!!
Some people have nerve!
You are engaged and so excited to share your news! DO THAT and don't let others stop you.
Obviously you won't be disrespectful b/c you posted that you want to spare her feelings, but this is your time to shine.
ENjoy the party -- it'll be worse for her if you seem like you feel bad for her.

Re: Confused
That sure is a difficult situation. But if she is your friend, she'll be happy for you no matter what since she should realize it isn't your fault that she isn't engaged. I guess i'd try to avoid the topic with them for a little while, but you deserve to be happy. If they dont understand, it's their problem.

Re: Confused
OK, here goes. It wasn't 10 years, but FH and I will have been together for almost 6 1/2 by the time we get married. I have been that girl, waiting for a ring when it seemed like everyone else was getting one. (he finished college, got his MBA and we bought a house together in the meantime.) Having said that, all those close to me and getting engaged during that time were wonderful. They were excited, and happy, and I was happy for them. They included me in their plans, and I WANTED to be included. They also were sensitive, and were able to hold a conversation that included topics other than their wedding. Now that I've gone on and on, it just really comes down to being yourself, and being sure not to take on any of the responsibility of your FH's cousin. It is HIS issue. Not yours. Enjoy your time, you deserve every sweet and wonderful moment of it!

Re: Confused
He's mad at your FH for giving you the ring? He needs to sh!t or get off the pot! Your FH should tell him that. He's got no right to be mad..he should feel incredibly bad for not proposing to her or cutting her loose if he has no intention of marrying her.
I couldn't have said it any better.
I definatly feel for the girl though, I am sure that she is upset, over her perdicament - but happy for you.

Re: Confused
Im sorry that you are dealing with that non sense. Your FH loves you and cares about you and wants to spend the rest of his life with you......and his cousin is upset b/c he is lazy and doesnt want to move his @ss and get her a ring!!!!!!
There is no reason why you cant be excited and want to share and experience this wonderful thing that has happened to you! Enjoy it...it only happens once! Dont let him bring you down or make you feel like you need to hide your excitement b/c he doesnt want to feel guilty about not asking her!

Re: Confused
Act as you normally would around her, let her bring it up, that way you can show it off and not hurt her feelings or make her think you are bragging.

Re: Confused
its ur time to shine and its not ur fault or ur fiance's fault that this guy has not popped the question.. enjoy every minute of it and if conversations about ur wedding come up and then just let it come up dont try to hush the conversation...
