Okay girls if anyone can give me some advice that would be Great Thanks... Well, here is the story ... My FH and I have been dating for 3 years & his cousin has been dating his G/f for 10 Years ( Yep thats right 10 years ) she is a very nice girl and we are friendly when we see each other .. But My FH’s cousin is mad at him for giving me a ring because his g/f has been bugging him for the last 3 years. He told my FH that he really put him in a bad spot and he didnt even tell her that I got the ring she found out because His mom left a post - it to buy us a congratulations card Luckily I haven’t seen her since he gave me the ring BUT, we have a family party this weekend coming up ?I wont be mean and run up to her and say look at my ring but, I don’t want to hide it or stop talking about plans to the family because she is around. My FMIL told me that this is my time to enjoy and have fun and its not my fault that his cousin doesn’t want to ask her. The last time we saw each other we talked about how she really wanted one. I feel so bad for her but, I am also on cloud Nine Because I’M SOOO HAPPY =) How should I act when I see her this weekend for a family party?? HELP !!!

Re: Confused
I say just act like you normally do when you see her. If she brings it up you talk about it. I mean I think that your fh cousin needs to either get the girl a ring or let go if he is not interested in marrying her. It's not your fault he hasn't made the move like your FMIL said, enjoy people oooh and aaahing over you and FH, but of course like you said don't rub it in her face.

Re: Confused
Act happy but be sensitive to her feelings.
He's mad at your FH for giving you the ring? He needs to sh!t or get off the pot! Your FH should tell him that. He's got no right to be mad..he should feel incredibly bad for not proposing to her or cutting her loose if he has no intention of marrying her.
NERVE!

Re: Confused
I'm familiar with this situation. My FH's brother has been dating a girl who claimed a year ago she would be the next Mrs.******. We got engaged first and I can tell she is annoyed. I wouldn't go out of my way to ignore the engagment but continue being happy for you and your FH. Eventually she will come around and realize that she should just be happy for you both!

Oh that *****. I would be cordiall and would keep plans about the wedding to a minimal around her. I wouldn't say anthing that seems patronizing to her situaltion. Its going to be hard, but don't let her situation dampen your mood.

Re: Confused
This is rough, but honestly, you can't stop your life because he doesn't want to propose. This is your time to be happy and be excited so definitely don't hide your happiness! Maybe you can just wait for her to say something to you about it instead of running up to her. Especially if you are not super close to her. But as for the rest of the family members, I say be as excited as you want! It is your time to shine! And like I said, you can't put your life on hold. Enjoy your engagement and don't worry about it!

Re: Confused
I had to deal with a similar situation as well...
A few guys yelled at FH for putting the pressure on them to propose...but we really didn't let it bother us...
I know it might still worry or bother you, but this is your time and you should be on cloud nine this weekend and excited about your engagement!
Every man in your cousin's life shouldn't wait to propose just because he does not want to make the commitment after ten years! Not to sound mean but maybe this engagement SHOULD put pressure on this guy, after ten years, he should know what he wants.. isn't there a saying about a pot that is appropriate here?

Re: Confused
I'm apologize in advance if I offend anyone, but I really don't understand why someone would stick around for 10 years without getting engaged. I can understand if there are outside circumstances or they are really young, but I would have probably left once I realized that he was never going to propose.

I would feel bad for her too, but maybe you can talk to your cousin when she isn' t there and joke - o so now its time for you to propose?
I agree don't throw it all in her face but you still be yourself and you still have a right to be happy!

Re: Confused
I think you should act normal...of course you're super excited about being engaged and you shouldn't have to hide it from anyone. When you say 'hello' to her, try to feel her out. If she asks you questions about the engagement & wedding planning, answer her honestly. If she doesn't seem interested, then don't push it. I'm in a similar situation with a good friend...I usually don't talk about the wedding with her unless she brings it up first (so far, she always asks about it so I know she's excited for me even though she wants to get engaged so bad and her bf is taking his sweet a$$ time). HTH

Completely agree! It's not as if you planned to get engaged to rub it in her face and she should know that. Her beef is with her man and if I were you I would act the same way I always do and feel her out! Hang in there!!

Awww hunny, You shouldn't have to hide your excitement from the family. Just be delicate with her like you said. To be honest with you, I would NEVER be with someone for 10 years w/out a ring on my finger. I don't know this girl but if her bf hasn't popped the question he's got some ISSUES. This is by no means your fault and you shouldn't have to hide your feelings! Have fun it's your time now!!! XOXOXO Kitty

Re: Confused
I would treat everything as normal, she's probably very happy for you just upset with her BF for not proposing after 10 years. She's probably hearing it all the time now too, when are you going to get married? Let me tell you, that chat isn't fun.
