Confused about tuxes..any advice?

OK I need advice on what to do about the tuxes. The wedding is November 9th, should we go now to look and order? Or should we wait a little longer? Should I go? Or just the guys? Or should I go with my fh and choose first with just the best men? Or do I not go at all? I am so confused! You know men...and I am not sure if I trust them to make the right decision about color and stuff like that.

Also, I am at a loss for colors. My bridesmaids dresses are called driftwood which is a copperish brownish color and my dress is ivory. Do you think they will have something to match the girls dresses? Its an odd color. And should my fh wear an ivory shirt or a white one?

Can you tell how confused I am about this? I was thinking of just going with my mom and our two best men to choose first but is that being too pushy on my part? Advice please!

Re: Confused about tuxes..any advice?

Hi! I went a few months ago for tuxs with my FH and my wedding is 10/13. The earlier the better especially if you are trying to match that color. I would not go with the wedding party, go with your FH (if he is interested) and figure out what you like/he likes. My FH threatened to go by himself but he did not get his way, he would have never been able to match the girls dresses to the vests (he is COLOR BLIND!) Bring the swatch of the girls dresses and match something up, I am sure you will find something.

Good Luck!

Re: Confused about tuxes..any advice?

I also went a few months ago for our 10/5 wedding with JUST my FH. We tried on a bunch of tuxes and decided on his first. Then we choose what the GMs will wear based on what looked good with his.
Next week the tux people are coming to measure everyone.

The cooper brown color is going to be hard to match but a good tux store might have a vest that works - bring a swatch of the BM dresses. Otherwise, stick to basic black.

Re: Confused about tuxes..any advice?

My FH wants to buy his and let his guys weaer whatever black tuxes they want. Is this a terrible plan? I dont' know why he's being so cavalier about it - he's EXTREMELY fashion conscious....

any opinion?

Re: Confused about tuxes..any advice?

Ok..I can relay my experience. My wedding is October 26. We went tux shopping/ordering a few weeks ago. We made all our decisions that day. We placed the order and fiance got measured. They said the guys can go in up to 2 weeks before the wedding to get measured and put in their orders.

I went with my fiance. I trust my fiance's fashion sense (he is much better than I at picking at suits and ties and stuff...he always knows what is 'in') and wanted him to go with the BM or something but he wanted me there. So we went together. My mom was also with us...not on purpose we just happened to give her a ride to the mall that day but she was helpful.

My dress is also ivory and my bridesmaids are wearing bordeaux (wine/maroon-ish). I had posted some questions awhile back about ivory vs white shirts and got mixed opinions.

Here is what we decided: The guys will all wear a three button Ralph Lauren tux, ivory shirts, wine colored vests and ties. FI will wear same tux, vest and shirt, but an ivory tie.

There are many options for vest colors. My brother just got married and the girls wore lavendar and the boys wore black vests (they refused to wear lavendar).

I also saw pretty silvers, golds and coppers that may work for you. (maybe you can bring a swatch from a bridesmaid dress to match up with the vest swatches).

Re: Confused about tuxes..any advice?

I am getting married 11/2 and put my tux order in already. But the guys do not have to get measured until late Sept.
I am wearing diamond white, the girls are in deep plum. My FH will be in a 3-button Jones NY tux with black long tie and vest (in a nice pattern), the GMs will be in 1-button tux with gray long tie and vest (same pattern as FH), the RBs will wear 1-button tux with white long tie and vest (pattern is the same as the dads), The dads are in 1-button tux with a merlot/black patterned vest and long tie.
