I recently became a member of this website because I've been reading all of the Brides' reviews and I find it very helpful. I am aiming for a 2010 wedding. I've looked already at several places but every time i check the reviews sometimes it just makes me doubt I really just sometimes get impatient because I guess I still have more to deal with. My fiancee and I have already looked at the following:
1. Beckwith Pointe (New Rochelle) my FH loves, I like it a lot but don't like the fact the cocktail hour is divided by a sliding wall. This guy named Michael assured their food was great but i've been reading the reviews and haven't heard anything positive.
2. V.I.P Country Club (New Rochelle) we didn't like it too much the guy who gave us the tour wasn't very excited so we kind of found that place boring.
3. Surf Club (New Rochelle) was so gorgeous but still doubtful about the food.
4. Crest Hollow Country Club (Woodbury) it's just so elegant it looks beautiful but when mentioning the food the guy told us 'you should try our appetizers they are awesome because when it comes to the main course chicken is chicken and beef is beef') and it just threw us off!!!
5. Fox Hollow. (Woodbury) the day we saw it apparently they were polishing the floors and it smelled really bad i got a headache. She showed us the Garden Room and we weren't too impress although Scotto Brothers are supposed to cater pretty amazing meals. My FH's brother had his wedding at the Chateau Briand and the food was outstanding!
6.Jericho Terrace. (Mineola) As soon as I walked in i fell like in another world!!! the place is just so elegant I would say a little too elegant but I loved it! My FH thought it was just way over decorated but the guy that showed us the tour and everything was so cool! and we get a lot of choices in food but i don't know if the food is good in Jericho Terrace...I've been reading great things about the food but the attendants and they organizing itself I've been reading that it's a bit messy CAN SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS ONE!!!????
7. Leonards (Great Neck) We simply just didn't like this place too much although the price seemed reasonable...
So this is my big dilemma I know i might still have to visit other places but I want to walk into a place that I want to say this is it!!! so far my top choices are the Jericho Terrace and Fox Hollow....can someone please help me!!! this is just too hard!!!! NOW I understand what other brides go thru hehe!!! anyway hope this wasn't too long !! bye

I thank everyone for the wonderful replies :) I will def check WM and FT sometime this weekend :)...I don't plan to marry at the hall I Plan to marry in a church my big concern right now is food and the people within the RECEPTION HALL I want them to be easy to work with people and I want the food to be great!
it's farther east in e northport than the others but you are describing Larkfield Manor! the people are the very best, sweetest souls who want your day to be woinderful. the owner has a fine staff and my guests marvelled at the service and attentiveness. food was out of this world delicious. I did a slideshow of LM pics. seee my video lib.

Crest Hollow- Went to a wedding there in July the food was not that impressive. Everyone kept commenting about how the fried calamari tasted like onion rings. However the place is very elegant. Oh another thing about this place and Fox Hollow, the bar tenders are not allowed to give shots. This is one thing I still have an issue with.
I had my wedding at Fox Hollow. I loved my room and the food was GREAT! And people were doing shots all night, so I don't think the above statement is true. My aunts, uncles, friends, and DH did shots at our wedding!! Fox Hollow was wonderful. No complaints about them!!

We're getting married there in Feb and the catering rep, I forget his name, specifically told us that they don't serve shots. Based on what you've said I hope that he was misinformed and my guest will be able to do shots.

Personally speaking, I booked at Fox Hollow, but I had to go there again just to make sure that was whom I wanted to book with. After looking at all the places you want to look at, you should take all the folders you collect and sit down and rule out the ones you think are definate no's. Like ones that are just way out of your price range, not offering enough, etc. Then you should have a few maybes. Sit and talk with your fiancee and get his opinion on these places. If he's not particularly feeling them, put them on the possible no side. It's ok to have 5 or 6 RH that you're on the fence about, as long as your crazy about atleast 2 of them. I didn't automatically fall in love with my RH. I fell in love on my return visit. This might happen for you.

Def. check out Glen Island if you're looking in the New Rochelle area... a bit more than those other places but it's a league above the others. Everything about the place is spectacular!

I know I'm probably a little late, but I am actually booked for beckwith pointe for 6/12/09. When my FH and I first saw it we loved it and booked it the next day! Once we went back for food tasting I started to fall out of love with it. It didn't help from the reviews I was reading on here either.
Needless to say my FH still loves it too, but I have to say that the food at the tasting was a bit questionable, but Michael also assured me that the food is cooked fresh the day of the wedding and is tasty.
As for the slidding wall, I am COMPLETELY appalled by it and I am hoping that something, if anything can be done by it. If you do decide to book with them, please let me know what they say about it, or if anyone can give some pointers, that will be great! :)

I am an JT bride and have been to a couple weddings at Jericho Terrace, both as a guest and a member of the bridal party. The food is excellent and the service is very good. When I was in a wedding party there we were treated like royalty. I mentioned in front of the maitre'd that my shoes were hurting me and he went and got me flipflops!

I've been to a few weddings at Jericho Terrace, and they def have great food!!!!! Before even looking there (I actually never made it to looking there), it was a top contender for us. However, I always knew I wanted the Sand Castle, and the price was right, so I got my #1 choice.
I understand what you're saying about some of the concerns with Jericho Terrace about the people and the organization. My friends who got married there ran into some bumps in these areas, but overall, they loved JT, and their weddings were great!!!
I've never been to Floral Terrace, but I've heard great things about it. Also, the people who own Floral Terrace, also own my place, the Sand Castle. So I could imagine that Floral Terrace is pretty good, and it is one wedding at a time which many people like
Sand Castle was doing renovations and starting in 2009, it will be one wedding at a time. The food there is excellent, and the people and place are so nice. Anytime I mention I'm getting married there, the first thing people say to me is 'the food is really good there.'
So I definitely recommend checking out Floral Terrace and the Sand Castle, and also do consider Jericho Terrace too!
