Ok... so the 20% or 18% service charge covers what??? Is that the tip that is divided up to waitstaff and bartenders??? Like a built in tip for them?? Also If there is a $300 Maitre D' fee does that include the tip or do I need to tip on top of that.
This stuff sure is confusing!!!

the 18-20% is for all of the waiters, the set up, etc. You'll still have to tip.
The $300 maitre 'de fee should be the tip.. Mine says $300 is the recommended MD fee.

So I still have to tip individual waiters, bartendars, etc.??? I am conrfused. Wouldn't the 20% service charge that is automatically tacked on be that?? I worked in the restaurant and catering business for a few years and we got the (20% service)amount automatically divided up amongst us as our tip in additon to our hourly rate). Occasionally we got tipped out more but rarely.

just do what you can. don't go crazy to tip 20% on top of 20%. one place told me it only covers they're salaries, not gratuity that's why it's an extra 20%. i'm not going nuts over the tipping thing.

We didnt tip any of the waitstaff-Im not sure if our parents did tho. And the maitre d I think got 300, after what we spent he was NOT getting more then that. If it says that is there I wouldnt tip anymore.

PLUS tip to the bridal attendant
PLUS tip to the bartenders (to ensure no tip jar / refusal of tips from guests)
PLUS tip to the valets (to ensure no tip jar / refusal of tips from guests)
