My students loans from undergrad and grad school are going to be entering re-payment very soon. As of right now, my federal loans are being handled by 4 different servicers (Great Lakes, Nelnet, ACS, and Student Loan Corp).
In addition to my federal loans, I have one private loan that I took out during undergrad through Citi. Since I really do not want to pay 5 different student loan bills per month I would like to consolidate my federal loans. Has anyone done this before? What are the best places to consolidate through?? TIA!!!

Re: *** Consolidating Student Loans ***
I consolidated under the federal student loan program it reduced my payments from 1k per month to 560. And the turn around time from them was really quick

I was in a similar situation. You can consolidate your 'private' loans (ie citibank) through wells fargo or sally mae. I personally used wells fargo and have had no problems. Your federal loans get consolidated through the government. I have to look up to see who I used. ( my father helped me ALOT with this so I don't remember everything) Unfotunatly you will not be able to combine private loans and federal loans so you will have 2 loan payments. I have them taken directly from my bank account every month. They give you a better interest rate if you do it that way. Hope I helped a little bit

i'm not sure of this, but i was told you can't consolidate at this time in the economy. I tried about a yr and a half ago, but they have been on deferment ever since... so i dunno if this is still true

You 100% CAN consolidate your student loans. I will be doing mine very soon, but a lot of my fellow med school graduates already did it. My FH is a financial analyst so i'm basically gonna have him do it all. As soon as i get more info, i'll let you know. I think we are going to be using direct loans.
