I used to try to wear contacts five years ago but couldn't do it, had problems with my eyes, and had to stop. Now, five years later, i want contacts, mostly for the wedding. My doctor told me the problems I am having may be from dry eyes. That is why I can't wear them. Does anyone else have those problems? What do you do to solve it?

Re: Contact Lens HELP!
i have dry eyes and terrible allergy eyes (i had eye surgery so i don't wear contacts)
But i wake up every morning and put rewetting drops- they are the single dose ones - recommended most by eye doctors - let them sit for one snooze and get up - it works really well for me - if i am having a particulary bad day - i use them before i sleep or when it is hurts

Re: Contact Lens HELP!
i never wore contacts but i just had lasik surgery so i wouldn't have to wear glasses anymore and i use drops (tears) 3-4 times a day (my surgery was on 1/10 so i'm still pretty 'new') to make sure my eyes dont dry out.
i had never thought my eyes were dry until the drs were checking me out and apparently singulair (for my asthma..also an allergy med) and birth control dry your eyes out a ton so you should be taking drops. so if you take certain meds those definitely wouldn't be helping.. just get some tears and try it out.

Re: Contact Lens HELP!
My Dad has dry eye syndrome as a result of a stroke. We give him eye rewetting drops twice a day and his eye doctor said they have much iimproved the health of his eye. I get them from an on-line drugstore and just buy a lot of bottles at a time (year supply). I've found the on-line prices to be much cheaper. I know they sell brands for contact wearers too. Can you ask your doctor what brand he/she recommends?

Re: Contact Lens HELP!
I was told that I wouldn't be able to wear contact lenses when I was younger due to my extremely dry eyes. I went to see a different eye dr. and they put me on special contact lenses for dry eyes. I wear cibia lenses and they have been good.

Good idea....get a second opinion, or see a specialist who may have some good insight and receommendations.
Good Luck!

Re: Contact Lens HELP!
I was never able to wear contacts. Then I had LASIK. When I look back on my attempts to wear contacts, I realize that it was a waste of time and money. I was never going to be comfortable. I was very nervous before my LASIK but it was great. If I had been able to wear contacts, I would not have considered LASIK but I am so glad I had it.
I'm not trying to talk you into LASIK, but I would encourage you to just give up on the contacts if you've been trying for a long time. Just my opinion.
