contact lenses - sort of wedding related

Strange question.

I wear contacts and my eyes start to get red by the end of the day.

Does anyone know if you can use Visine (to get the red out) while wearing contacts? I have rewetting drops, but they don't get the red out...

I don't want to have blood shot eyes the day of the wedding!

Re: contact lenses - sort of wedding related

good, glad I'm not the only one!

I have blue eyes, and I really want them to stand out...but not if they're all bloodshot!

I guess I'll have to ask my eye doctor...but maybe someone here knows...

Re: contact lenses - sort of wedding related

I was thinking of asking my eye doctor as well.

My eyes were especially bad after my make-up trial. I ususally do not wear make-up. But when I had a trial, two hours later I had to take my contacts out my eyes were so bad. I guess they are especially sensitive!

Re: contact lenses - sort of wedding related

That's the problem..they only have 'dry eyes' drops for contacts..not for redness.

I read the back of the Visine label and it said, 'Remove contacts before applying'. So, I guess I could put the drops in the morning and then put my contacts in and get my makeup done. It said it will last for 6 hours.

Maybe I'll experiment!

Re: contact lenses - sort of wedding related

There is a product just like visine except it is for allergies. I don't have allergies, but I use it to get the red out - I wear contacts also, and these drops are made to use with your contacts in and it clears up the redness, it causes redness when you first put them in, but then it clears up pretty quickly, I don't have them with me, I am at work so I will post the name of it later.

Re: Maybe try wearing glasses for a few days

My eye doctor had told me since I wear contacts and have allergies that any of those solutions breaks down the contact whether it is contact safe or not. Mrs2Be, do you tell your eye doc that your eyes are red by the end of the day? Maybe he can suggest something. When I first got contacts probably 16 years ago at least, my contacts were horrible by end of day, now they are good to go from morning to night. I use everyday, make sure you don't leave those contacts in over night, your eyes NEED to breathe!

Re: Maybe try wearing glasses for a few days

They now make Visine for contacts. They are hard to find, but keep looking, they are out there (they seem to sell out quickly). They work really well.

Re: Visine for contacts...

cync - are they for red eyes or dry eyes? I have Visine for dry eyes but it doesn't help the redness...

I'm going to make an appt. with the opthamologist. I'm also going to stop wearing my glasses for a few days before the wedding...

Thanks for the replies!

Re: contact lenses - sort of wedding related

Visine now makes eye drops for contacts. I think it just came out. There was a coupon in Sunday's paper I believe.

Re: contact lenses - sort of wedding related

I know its not recommended but I often use regular visine while I have my contacts in and it really does the trick quickly. Disclaimer is that I have been wearing lenses forever and never have any problems. I'm really bad - I sleep in them a lot and everything, so obviously I'm not sensitive. If you're going to use the regular Visine try it a few weeks before the wedding just in case. Good Luck!

Re: contact lenses - sort of wedding related

My sister is an eye doc and she sometimes says it can be allergy related , or the lenses might not be sitting right. You might want to check with your Optometrist.
