I am going to give my Down Payment in like 2 hours... but there is 1 thing in the contract that I am concerned about...
it states that that the client is using the hall under their own risk and shall indemnify, defend and hold the hall harmless from and against any and all claims, actions, liabilities, damages, losses, cost and expenses arising out of any such claims by client or his guest, invitees, employee's, agents and independent contractors.
So... Bottom line if someone falls and like hurts them self seriously... the hall cannot take any responsibility... even if it was their fault... like a wet floor, or something...
Does everyone's contract have something like this???
I hope no one gets hurt... but what happends just in case?

I dont have that in my contract-ask them-if there is a reason it is in the contract? I would also ask if there is something that happens due to their irresponsibility does that mean they are not liable.
It will hurt nothing by making sure that you completely and utterly understand your contract.

I think my contract does have something like that. I wonder if it's even legal. I mean if there's a crack in the concrete and one of your guests fall- how could you be responsible? Same thing for inside falls- if the rug is pulled up or something- that can't be your fault legally, could it?

Fist let me say that I am NOT a lawyer but as far as I Know (from what i've learned in my bus law class), If someone falls and gets hurt due to the hall's negligence, you most certainly CAN sue. They get you to sign the waver so if you did not know any better you would think 'well, I can't sue them'...that's bullsh*t

this is of the reasons why most halls require each vendor have insurance policy...this way if something where to go wrong, they can try to blame another vendor

That's why wedding insurance has become so popular for couples to buy. A lot of places are doing away with their liability. Wedding insurance has given us piece of mind. It's pretty inexpensive too, only $200-$300 depending on coverage. They have two kinds, one of which is the liability that you talk about. The other covers deposits, vendors closing, so much stuff.
For a few hundred dollars we are now breathing easier and I'm not thinking 'what if' all the time. One place that has it is wedsafe.com
