CONTRACT SIGNED (Happy & Sad)

So yesterday I signed the contract for the sale of my apt. Hopefully the board will approve the buyer, which it seems that they will because he's financially stable and has an awesome credit score. I'm very happy it's in contract.

However, I must say I felt a little sad signing it though . I also can't believe I'm actually going to be moving to LI soon. Part of me I guess was in denial. In some ways I'm going to miss my single life, even though I love my FH and Thank God everyday we found each other, there is a piece of me that's going to miss 'my' place and 'my' time. I'm also going to really miss living in Queens, I've lived here my entire life with the exception of when I dormed in the City. Needless to say a part of me is feeling a sense of loss.

Nontheless, I'm really looking forward to this new chapter in my life and becoming a wife and God-willing a mother (someday).

Sorry for the long post...guess I just needed to get my mixed feelings out.

I'm having the same thoughts, I totally feel your bittersweet thoughts! I'm a Queens girl, and living with someone else will be a challenge for me.

This is just a new chapter in our lives, we just have to get use to the change. At first it might be hard, but I have faith everything in the end will all work out

Awww, I know all the memories are there and its hard to let go. its really hard to let go something you were so comfortable with. I'm from queens too and when we finally get a house it will be either LI or Westchester. Just think that your not alone, many people are in your shoes and this new chapter is something very positive not negative. Wish you the best!

I know how you feel, when I sold my coop to move into FH's apartment before we bought our house...I had the same mix emotions.

Take pics of your apartment...remember all the good times you've had there as a single woman...then look ahead to the amazing future that past gave you!!!!

i know exactly you feel. granted, i didn't own my apt, but when i handed in my unsigned lease renewal, and told them i was moving, i was sooo sad. i lived in my apt in brooklyn for 6 years, and had always lived in brooklyn, other than dorming in stony brook. there were so many mixed emotions, esp since i was moving into DH's place, not a place we chose together.

now i can't wait to sell our place, and finally get a home that we choose together.

I had the reverse change , I moved from LI to Queens and it did take some adjusting to ! I think it is normal to have those mixed emotions about change and giving up some independance

You are starting a new chapter in your life , and you will create new memories with FH

Congrats! I know it must be bittersweet, but think of it this way, you get to start a new life in a new place w/ your FH
