Contract Survey

Hi there...i just posted a thread regarding abigail kirsch contracts...but, I have noticed that there are not too many AK brides out there...so--on a more general note I would really appreciate what all you ladies changed/added to your reception/caterer contract before signing. I am paranoid about this because I recently had an engagement party at a VERY WELL KNOWN UPSCALE place and several of the things I was orally promised were not done or completely screwed up and THEN when i later confronted the event manager he TOTALLY DENIED ever promising any of these things (although my fiance, myself and my parents had heard him on NUMEROUS occassions.) SORRY for the venting...thanks for all your help!

Re: Contract Survey

I'm sorry to hear about that..

Your first mistake was having anyone promise anything to you orally....whether it be at a VERY WELL KNOWN UPSCALE place or Chucky Cheese....

Make sure you have EVERYTHING in writing.. any concerns and comments.. if the banquet manager promised you an ice carving for the cocktail or an extra hot station or an extra pasta course, this must all be included.. typically the bm will go over everything with you and will write in all the extras.. and then you can look it over one more time and execute the contract..

Re: Contract Survey

You are totally right...afterwards when I checked the contract and realized it didn't list all the 'rooms' we were supposedly using I felt like an idiot...I guess I just figured that an engagement party was different...less details to screw up etc...boy was I wrong! I can't believe professionals would lie to your face Thanks again for your input!

Re: Contract Survey

By the way...I wasn't trying to be 'elitist' or anything when i used the phrase 'upscale place' i was just trying to make the point that it was one of those places that claims they stake their events on their reputation for service etc...so sorry for how it came off

Re: Contract Survey

it's ok.. although I feel the caps were unecessary and your point was clear...

But seriously, you have to remember that to these people want to make money.. for the most part, they really don't care about the sentimental aspect of this important day.. no matter how nice they are, they are in sales and want to sell you their product (being the hall) so be careful...don't feel stupid or embarrassed to ask any question.. something that may seem retarded to ask, can cost you later.. ask whatever you need to and make sure that all that is discussed is included in the contract in writing..

Good luck!
