So i'm going to the Sandcastle tonight (apt at 730) to talk CONTRACT!!!!!!
Two questions for you girls....
Should i bring a wad of cash for the deposit, or should i just bring my check book? My mom was like....'do people still take personal checks'..and i was like OF COURSE! But, then my best friend made a point that they may not charge tax or whatever if i pay cash. What do you all think?
AND... Anything in particular i should discuss/ask them?

Ask for them to INCLUDE whatever you want. Ask if they can do better even if it is the price you want. I'm paying cash for everything so I could get a discount. Make sure if you pay in cash you get a recite.

I'm gonna make my FH and Dad do most of the price talking ( i get nervous)....any tips on getting over that nervousness. Of course i wanna get the most for my buck....but i'm so meek lol. I feel like asking to include things and dropping prices just makes me shake in my boots lol

I just went through this same thing last week :) I had my negotiations yesterday though and it went very well.
Best advise is don't be nervous!! Just ask for what you want (whether it be an upgrade you want included or $x off the price per person) and the worst they can do is say no. Mostly likely they will work with you on some part of it. Either way you seem pretty set on the place, right?

Honestly be strong. You are paying A LOT of money for something you want. Go with a price you'd like to pay in mind that way you're not fumbling. If they can't meet that, see what other things they can do for you at the higher amount. You will be great!!

We put ours on credit card. And this is when they threw in a bunch of cocktail hour add-ons so ask what else they can do!!!!!!!!

It never hurts to ask for things to be tossed into your contract for free. I get nervous too and will let FH take care of the negotiating. Good luck! Let us know how it turns out.

cash is king, but ive noticed that my vendors have let me put down the first deposit on my cc (for points) and then cash for the rest. And when I say cash, personal check is acceptable. It's a bargaining chip for the places when you pay cash to drop tax in some cases, but the RH's didnt seem to budge when I asked that quesiton.. they just expected it.

Sorry, My parents, FH and I went out for drinks last night after talking contract and i got a little drunk so i didnt sign on....
I AM OFFICIALLY A SAND CASTLE BRIDE, 10/5/13!!!
We pretty much didnt change the price that we were quoted, but we also found out that we aren't being charged tax! No matter if we pay by cash or check. Since we're not using their wedding cake (my aunt is a baker), she is throwing in the belgium chocolate fountains for free!! I also got the martini bar that comes from the ceiling for free! Saved $500!!! All cause i just asked!!!!! We originally agreed on a choice of 6 entrees, but she threw in another one (total of 7), without me even asking.
All in all, i'm so so so happy!!!!

Yay! Congrats! Just so you know, gratuity is included too except for the Bridal Attendants and the maitre ds. They are great like that. I didn't ask for the martini bar but we have the ceremony, chocolate fountain, and 7 choices thrown in also. Not to mention the raw bar, sushi, VH, and honeymoon are all included. I loooove our RH! Congrats again! I'm glad you're excited!
