Re: conversation starter: would you rather..........
Though choosing a simpler hall may seem smart, it isn't a good idea to me.
The hall you choose is EVERYTHING....well almost. If the hall isn't good, the food probably won't be as tasty nor would it be presented as well. Also, pricier halls usually have the grounds for beautiful photos.
I'm a 'Newbie' though so, just my opinion

Option B - because who's to say that the food/service at the lower priced hall isn't as good as the most expensive one?

Re: conversation starter: would you rather..........
I would go with mid range everything. We looked at Carltun at first and were blown away by the prices. The place was gorgeous. After we left the meeting DH said well, we could have it here if we invite only 30 people. I cried.
But we ended up finding the perfect place for us. If I was on a budget, I would not be looking at Oheka. I could not just blow it on the place. There are plenty of places out there that do a great job that are not super expensive.
I would want great food, music and all of my friends and family. That's the important part.

I would opt for the a less expensive hall and be able to make up for it with my vendors and add ons, etc.

New twist on the question..........
would you take.......
Pricier hall with a basic package for food (less cocktail stations etc., but more waitstaff, etc)
OR
Less expensive (maybe not as fancy looking) but more menu options and more on the menu in general.
I think that the second option here will be more popular.

Definitely the second option!
The funny part is the 2 really expensive places I looked (vs the 4 less expensive places) didn't blow me away. I think it was the way they were presented to me, the salespeople weren't good at selling it and it didn't feel right so maybe I'm biased because price aside, I would've booked where I booked anyway.

Choice B, because a lot of the less expensive halls and beautiful and do a great job! I'm trying to keep my spending as low as possible across the board though.

I would definitely spend less money on the venue and more on the other things.

same here. without outright naming where, one place just kept saying 'it's an old mansion and we've managed to preserve it' well, i was not impressed...
although the second twist on this question is rare....because the biggest difference [after decor/ambiance] in many halls is the choice of food...$$$$=more options usually.

Less expensive hall - more expensive menu items, and more money on cp's and other decor enhancing items if I didn't love the way the less expensive hall looked. (this is making me hungry!)
