As most of you know or if you do not know, I decided not to have a bridal party, just a MOH, FG, RB, Best Man and 4 GM it is called King's Wedding from what I am told.
My reason for this is that I love my friends dearly, but these are the most inconsitent females in the world, always late, very picky, and a couple of them are cheapskates.
For the all the reasons listed above I decided to not ask them to be in the wedding because I do not want to deal with the drama that may occur.
Anyway one of my girlfriends said that I was being too presumptious and that it is unfair of me to think they would act this way on the most important day of my life. My response was on a random day I cannot get you girls to meet for dinner on time, how can I count on you to be at my wedding on time.
Honestly, am I being harsh? My FH is going along with my decision even though he does not agree with it 100%. He thinks people will think it looks stupid to see all those guys and one girl.
I want to just keep my sanity.

You're not being harsh, but rather fair... I agree with your decision and don't think you were presumptious.

I absolutely agree with your decision!!! If you are more comfortable this way, then that's the way it should be!

You need to do what makes you and FH happy!!!! It's your day!!! I'm sure you thought long & hard about having these girls in your BP and decided it was best to avoid the drama - can't blame you!!

Re: conversation with my girlfriend
Thanks ladies.
I am very comfortable with the decision.
My MOH is my sister and the BM is his best friend.
The GM are is 3 brothers and 1 additional close friend.
FH is more worried about how it will look.
Thanks to Michele and Shamma on the NW board.

if you want to hear something even crazier, a wife of one of FH's buddies would not let him be a groomsman unless she was a bridemaid. Given that I didn't care for dealing with her, neither of them is in the bridal party.

I totally agree with you! Why have the headaches. I wish I had the balls to do the same. But instead I matched the 12 groomesmen that my FH is having. Now we have the biggest bridal party on the face of the earth. I just hope I can deal with the drama when it starts. Thankfully I still have time to prepare!
It is your wedding you can do whatever you want. Good Luck!

Thanks ladies:
I just want to say that it is not my intention to offend anyone with large bridal parties.
Large Bridal Parties do not always equl drama.
I just know the type of people I would be dealing with and it would not be pretty.
I appreciate all of your responses.

Re: conversation with my girlfriend
It seems like you spent a lot of time thinking about the situation before making your decision. Stick to your guns. A wedding is stressful enough without having to worry about your BP.

I hope you don't regret it later. I understand your reasons, but it is sad that you can't trust your friends to be there on time for your wedding day.
I didn't mean that to sound the way it sounded.

Re: conversation with my girlfriend
My FH's Cousin had a King's wedding. It ws very elegant. She had a MOH. She is from out of town, so I think that made it easy for her.
Good luck, and keep to your true feelings about this, they are always best.

Re: conversation with my girlfriend
not only do I think you have every right .... you are also VERY smart!!
If you know these girls are like this, then chances are there will be problems. And maybe the day of will be fine, but there's the shopping ... dresses, shoes, & the shower, the rehearsal dinner, etc. where this issue could lead to problems! How frustrating. You're smart to stay away from it ... ask them to do other things, like maybe a reading at the ceremony if that's appropriate or other things. You've got enough going on in your life right now, you don't need unreliable people stressing you out!
Alina ... that's crazy about your FH's friend. It's their loss.

Re: conversation with my girlfriend
They should understand its your day! I would not worry about how it looks.... people are not going to remember the line up of the bridal party as what was important, but how beautiful the two of you will be, and how much fun they are going to have!
