Converse Sneakers? (With poll and pic!)

Okay, so FH and his GMs (and even my dad!) are all wearing Converse Chuck Taylors with their tuxes. FH is getting measured at Mens Wearhouse right now and they have these leather converse sneakers in stock. He wants to buy them, I think they are ugly as sin. I told him not to buy them until I see them in person, but I just wanted to see what you ladies thought. He *claims* they are much nicer in person, but I'm skeptical. They look like plastic here to me! TIA!

i like the classic ones better.
i tired so hard to get fh to wear converse but he won't... so i got custom ones made for the bm and myself.

I got myself a pair, too! They'll look so cute under the dress! And my dad is gonna wear them, too. I told him we have to take a pic together with our converse on. LOL!
