Coral House
Hi all.I am getting married next year at the Coral House, next September. I would appreciate any feedback good or bad. I am expecting about 130 people. Also can anyone tell me if it is worth it to get the Viennese Table, as we already have a dessert course and a Vienneese platter of pastries and cookies. I really want to hear your opinions.
Thanks

Re: Coral House
we are getting married there in may. we are having 210 people in the Americana Room
I think the mini viennese is enough. i hear the cocktil hour alone is too much food.
What room did you book?
They are all nice.

Re: Coral House
Hi!! Welcome to the Coral House Club!!!!!!!!!!!I am getting married there in February 2004. I have the presidential room for the cocktail hour (the room downstairs) and I have the Americana room (the main ballroom) just like Jennbaby. I am having approximately 180 people. Honestly, there is sooo much food you really don't need to add anything else. Search on this site and you will see that one of the ladies on here, dgtlsunshine, just put her review on here about three months ago. I only paid extra for 2 cases of Corona and Heineken. I also just added a extra large platter of sushi. The mini viennese consists of one desert (I can pay extra for my guests to have too choose one of two deserts...still debating that), cookies and pastries on each table, cordials, coffee, tea and wedding cake. Honestly I think people are gonna be stuffed!! Who at the Coral House is helping you? I am working with Linda, she is a sweetheart. I don't know all the other people there by name but they have been nothing but nice to me also :)
Let us know what you decide!!
:) Jen
P.S. I am tempted with the viennese also....I just know that everything is not gonna be eaten thats whats stopping me......

Re: Coral House
I also forgot a few more things. I went for a tasting with my parents and fh...the food is wonderful. The most interesting thing is the chicken with the pommery mustard sauce....its good and different. I love their penne vodka...nice and its sweet which is a little different also. Here is their website:www.coralhouse.com

Re: Coral House
Hey guys!!!Thanks for the feedback. I am working with Linda Hunt and she is fantastic.
I am glad one of you mentioned the alcohol. I was also debating about upgrading a bit with the Heineken and Corona. Other than that were you guys satisfied with the selection of beverages?
As for the entrees I really want to get the Mustard Chicken it was fabulous, a departure from the normal Chicken Marsala. All of the food we tasted was excellent.
As for the Venetian Hour I may not go with it, though for visual purposes it is tempting. I just know it is going to be wasted, as there is so much other food.
Did any of you make any other upgrades? Did you use the centerpieces or used your own?
I am open for all types of feedback and advice.
Thanks all.

Oh, by the way I am in the colonial skylight room for my cocktail hour and the Nantucket Deck for dinner. We are expecting about 125-130 people.

Re: Coral House
Looks like I may be the next one up. We are getting married at the Coral House 12/15/02. We just upgraded to the Americana room b/c we had way too many people for the Nantucket room. We are definetly going with the mustard chicken, that was soooo good. We chose not to do the vienese (sp) b/c at the end of the night most people are too stuffed with food, or too full from drinking. I also have been working with Linda who is great. I will let everyone know how it all went after. I can't believe how fast it is coming up

Re: Jen2704
Hi DeniseMang!!I am getting married Feburary 7, 2004. I think the base price was $56 pp for a Saturday afternoon...it includes gratuities but I am pretty sure it doesn't include tax. It is $64 pp for a Saturday evening for that day. What day is your sister leaning towards? Also the prices are a little lower b/c of the time of the year.
Jennbaby....I forgot which meat I tasted...it was the chateaubriand....you are right it is just like butter!! I always mess up the names when it comes to meat...lol
DecBride02...can't wait to hear about your wedding!!! Your the next one up!!!! Did you go through the menu selections yet?
nrvbrd ....I am satisfied with the amount of food we are getting. I did do the two things...upgrade the amount of alcohol b/c I know my dad's end loves Heineken and my mom's end loves Corona. I got two cases of each. I paid $32.55 per case. I just figured it is more convienient to get it from them instead of driving in from the city to bring it there. You can bring your own. I also just got the extra large sushi platter for $175.00 ....I just figure it would be something different. As for centerpieces I am not using theirs b/c I am allergic to flowers. So Linda threw in 300 shrimp for the cocktail hour besides the 100 the bridal party gets. I know the venetian hour is beautiful to the eyes....but nobody is really gonna eat after the amount of food offered!!
I am so excited at the amount of Coral House ladies on here!!

Re: Jen2704
Linda gave me 600 shrimp for my cocktail hour and an extra half hour onto my reception (because my company provides Coral House and all other reception halls with all the liquor!
). My company also provided them with a bottle of wine that they auctioned off for 9/11, that brought in a good deal of money.Wow what a dfference between February & May!
I am paying $89 pp for a Saturday night in May.
My cocktail hour will be outside on the rooftop (weather permitting).
I hope to get added extras also, not sure what yet. I am not using their cake but bringing a photo of one I want, it may be extra to make depending, so maybe I can get that thrown in also!

Re: Jen2704
Oh Jennbaby your so lucky...extra time and extra shrimp!!! :) I know the difference in price is crazy...but Coral House is definitely worth it!! I am thinking...maybe I will add on the salmon for the cocktail hour. I love fish and I want lots of it!! Honestly if I had to pick a bigger cocktail hour or a venetian hour...I would go with a bigger cocktail hour and have more food for that!!:) Jen

Re: Coral House
Hi.I hear that you all are not using the centerpieces provided by the Coral House. Are they that bad?
Those of you that are upgrading are you using their in-house florist? How much is this costing you?
In terms of cake, has anyone heard if their cake is any good? My banquet manager tells me that we do not get tastings on the cake. What are your thoughts.
Thanks.

Re: Coral House
The centerpieces they give you are very small. Since my room (Americana) is so big, I want big, high centerpieces.I am using a florist who is my MOH's dad's best friend and I am getting a really GOOD deal on my flowers!!The cakes they have are good, its just I want my own, something prettier.
IMO, the Chatau Briand was AWESOME!!

Re: Coral House
jennbaby:Is it possible for you to show your banquet manager a picture of the cake you want and they can design one based on it?
As far as flowers are concerned I am in a smaller room than you (Nantucket Deck) so basically what are the quality of the flowers? I only see them in pictures and cannot get a clear indication of what they are.

Re: Coral House
i have only seen the flowers in pictures too, but call Linda and ask her if you can go see them on a saturday while the room you have is being set up for a wedding and if someone is using the ones they provide.yes you can bring a picture of a cake you like, however, show it to them, and they will tell you if it will be extra to make. depends on the cake they told me.

Re: Coral House
Hi!The centerpieces are not huge at all but they do not look bad either. Plus they put two candles on each table. I am not using the flowers b/c I am allergic to them. As for the cake I never discussed that with Linda but I do want to see if I can show them a design and see if they could do it. I have heard the cakes are good. I am having whipped cream topping b/c I hate buttercream (jmho). I don't know who their house florist is but you can ask Linda. Oh as far as the chateau briand...it was wonderful....melted like butter!!
