Hey there! Still on the venue search. Anyone get married at Coral House or Milleredge Inn? Looking for pricing and reviews of both places, it would be a late fall/early winter wedding in 2014, about 125 people. Hoping for a Saturday night wedding.
I'm also thinking about Thatched Cottage, but I heard it's expensive.
Any help would be appreciated!

Coral House is reasonable price wise and the bigger room is gorgeous and they have nice outside grounds for pictures etc. That room has a large minimum. I went to look there when I was venue hunting and the room they wanted to giveus was so cheesy and small. No personal opinions about millridge. HTH!

I have booked with coral house. As the previous post said the only way you want to book is if you plan to take their biggest room as the other room doesnt look wedding like at all unless your going for a camping/hunting theme. I got them to lower the minimum number as we are having the wedding in April and they didnt have the date we wanted open due to them having a holiday party that day. Their base price starts at about $60 pp, however a friend who got married there stated she paid $20,000 for approx 200 people. I am going thru an event planner for an all inclusive package price.

Thatched Cottage is incredibly reasonable and beautiful (and the food is fantastic)! Definitely get in touch with them.

I've been to a wedding at the Coral House. I thought the food was pretty mediocre and the service was horrible
I'd go to a wedding at the Thacthed Cottage over Coral House any day.

Do a search on here for the coral house. There was a recent coral house bride who left her wedding in tears. I forget her name, but she posted a detailed review.

I've been to an amazing wedding at MI. Probably the best I've been to, to-date. I also know it was off-the-wall expensive because they went all-out. I'm sure MI has more reasonable pricing.
Thatched Cottage is absolutely beautiful and far more reasonably priced - they were one of my top choices for a while. People there are very kind and that cocktail room is incredible!
Coral House... well, I called them for pricing and they are definitely on the lower end of the spectrum. From the pictures I saw of the rooms, I decided not to visit. A friend also talked me out of it because she said they have a weird parking situation that the parking lot (which I believe is valet) is a bit removed from the CH property and the attendants aren't at the lot watching the cars.

I went to a tasting at Coral House when I first started my venue search and didn't really know where to begin. The food wasn't terrible, but it also wasn't fantastic. And for only having to serve like 15 people, I would have expected that they would try to over impress. The appetizers they had us try were the best part.
They quoted us $65 pp in May, which would be great, but their outdoor area is on a main road, and all I kept picturing was us about to say our vows, and a car sitting on its horn on the adjoining street.
They recently changed owners, and the reason for the great pricing is that they are trying to make a better name for themselves. I get it, and they were super nice, and even the chef told us that he'd be willing to do basically whatever we wanted (I work in the restaurant industry, and chefs do NOT say that on a regular basis), but I just felt like they were almost begging for our business, it just seemed too desperate.
I've never been to a wedding there, and I am extremely picky, but that's my two cents

read this link from the bride who cried ... http://www.liweddings.com/chat/topic-805942-1.html
i just did. I looked at the Coral House - the only nice room requires 150 people. It's not really anything that great. I wouldn't even look there. The parking lot is across the street and the entrance is right on the curb - literally.
me & my FH didn't love it... it was cheap. definitely a NO on our list.

Just an update. I think I'm going to avoid Coral House. Between the post of that poor brides wedding, and also an invite to a wedding showcase there hosted by Theresa Gudice of the RHONJ, I don't think they are for me. I love trashy TV, but it worries me that they think she's an appropriate spokeswoman for the venue.
I went to a bridal showcase at Smithtown Landing today and I wasn't feeling the place. The bathroom felt the a VFW hall and they don't do cooking on the premises (the bring it in from Timber Point).
The venue search continues! I'm going to make appointments at Three Villiage Inn, Millerdge Inn, Thatched Cottage and Old Field Club for the next few weeks.

to jump in - one of the best/affordable weddings we went to was at the Thatched Cottage. They got married off season - middle of winter on a sunday - and had probably 20 different stations during cocktail hour and an amazing spread for dinner. very good service too.

I looked at the Coral House for my wedding and it was awful. The price is right but the people who helped me were terrible. I made an appointment to go and see the place and discuss pricing- I even called to confirm the appointment. When I got there no one wanted to help me. The 'Beautiful pond' outside looked more like a swamp than anything else. It was terrible. I have also talked to many people who have attended events there and was told that the food was not too good and was cold.

Wow Coral House really has a bad reputation and it seems like a deserved one! I am glad we are not getting married there for sure
