I am recetly engaged and have seen allyour rave reviews about Sans Souci.Would you mind telling me about how much they charge for a saturday night?And could you please explain what the whole thing ith the dance floor is about being seperate. Thanks.

I'm not Meg, but I thought I'd respond because I was a Sans Souci bride as well and loved it.

I'm not sure if the pricing has changed, but we were offered 2 menu choices: Premier for $90 pp and Deluxe for $85 pp. We got married on a Saturday in May.

I'll try and explain the dance floor. Most reception places I've been too have the dance floor in the center with tables on either side of it. One side is usually grooms side the other is the brides side. The Sans Souci is different in that there is no seating on either side of the dance floor. The bar is to one side over looking the water, the other side is usually set up with small cocktail tables. The seating is a set or two up and is located in an area next to the dance floor.

I'll attach an amateur pic someone took - it's fuzzy but it shows the seating area in the back. Hope this helps.

I think I see what you mean. Do you think only wanting to gaurentee 125 on saturday night in july or august will be a problem with sans souci?

When we checked out Sans Souci for our 04 wedding, we were told that we had to guarantee 125 for a Saturday in June or September. We didn't try to negotiate it down since we were not interested but I think you could definitely negotiate the minimum. They do offer two menu packages, but for a Saturday night you have to take the higher one (I forgot which one that is.) We were quoted $95.pp. again, we did not try to negotiate.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
As far as the set-up of Sans Souci goes, when you walk into the room from the front entrance, the dance floor is right in front of you. To the left, there is a step up and that is the area where all the tables are. Basically, the tables are adjacent to the dancefloor - Not surrounding it like most places. Chmengr's picture should give you a good feel.
As for Sat. night prices - I was quoted $100/person for the premier menu for a Sat. night in September. They charged $95/person for the deluxe menu (lesser but not much difference). They didn't tell me anything about not being able to choose which menu I wanted if I booked a Sat. evening. Regarding the minimum . . . I really can't help you there. I guarenteed 140 and that surpassed what they required so it wasn't an issue for me.

I called today and spoke to carol, seemed nice and said 100 for a sat in july or august and didnt really flinch when i said 130 so that seems ok. she said friday is much cheaper but the Fiance WANTS A SATURDAY NIGHT!! We have an appt. on jan 4th
My other question.. how is the food?

Hi! Just thought I'd let you know that I was at a tasting at Sans Souci and the food was fantastic. We booked without a tasting because we had heard so many great things about the food and we were thrilled with our choice after the tasting!

former sans souci bride here- just wanted to add that I thought the food at my wedding was delicious from the cocktail hour to the desserts. (yes, I did make some time to eat! food doesn't pass me by!)
My mom was concerned that the food be served hot, not lukewarm and she was vey happy with the outcome. Also another little plus- everybody was served in a timely manner.
I had a wonderful experience at the Sans Souci and if i can answer any other questions, please feel free.

Well thank you to all the San Souci brides for all your great input. i am going to look on January 4th and from what i hear i am going to love it. Here s another question ,did anyone negotiate price? Are they flexible? i am hearing form every place i call that the price, for saturday epecially, is not flexible but i tend to think once u get there and they see you are intyerested they may be something that can be arranged. Any feedback greatly appreciated :)

The food was out of this world. I ate all day - like someone said, food doesn't pass me by :) If you go to look at it on the 4th, and are still undecided, I believe there is a tasting/bridal showcase sometime in January/February. When we went to first look at the Sans Souci, we were able to leave a deposit to hold our date, on the condition that if we had our tasting and decided not to book, they would refund our deposit. We never thought twice about our decision after the tasting.

As far as negotiating, go for it. Sometimes if they don't flex on the price, you can negotiate food - like an extra dessert or something or lower your minimum guarantee if necessary.

Carol was a sweetheart to work with so go ahead and ask - it is worth a try.

I, of course, agree with everyone else . . . The food was absolutely amazing. They have bridal showcases every few months where you can sample all the food - Definitely worth checking out. I negotiated the price a little bit - got them down $5/plate - but I had a Friday night wedding which they are probably more flexible with.

Anyway my question is , are the flowers included in the price or do you just get a discount if you use their florist. Also I was wondering about the photogroper I happen to know thw house photographer well sort of know them and i was wonderig what everyone paid for this and what kind of package did you all get?

Table centerpieces are included, but you get a credit if you don't use them. The house florist (Daniel Hedgecock in Queens) has a very reasonable package for Sans Souci brides. I went with a florist I use for work.

I met with the house photographer (can't remember name right now) but decided to use a different place in the end. Edited to say that their prices were very reasonable. They also offer video.

04Bride - Don't worry about the ?s! I wish I had know about this site at the beginning stages of my planning
I used the house florist (Hedgecock). The centerpieces were included but the ones they give you are tiny. I upgraded to a big bowl of sunflowers as the centerpiece adn it cost us $10/table - Not bad - $140 for all the centerpieces. He also includes many huge arrangements that they place around the room. These, however, cannot be chosen by you - They just use a bunch of exotic colorful flowers. Hedgecock was extroidinarily affordable as far as the entire floral package went. For $950 we got:
14 centerpieces
1 bridal bouquet (any flowers at all - totally your choice)
6 BM bouquets (again, any flowers at all)
3 mom bouquets
3 grandmother corsages
11 bout's
Church flowers - ribbons and flowers on everyother pew, two huge basket arrangements for the front of the church
Flowers for ladies room
Flowers for placecard table (although I don't think we got this)
Cake flowers
Pretty amazing deal. I was pretty happy with the flowers. I would say we got a great deal for what they provided. I was unhappy with a few things but that was my own fault for not being super, super specific.
As for the house photographer, I didn't even meet with them. I went with Imagine.

Thanks for your support. i think I am going to love the place. I dont want the typical places everyone(including my six engaged friends) are getting married at.. Jericho terrace, crest hollow, fox hollow.. they are all very nice but i want somethng a little different. In fact i was going to do something else for centerpieces so maybe i woud takethe discount. What does anyone think of this...
I was going to buy glass pedastal bowl fillthm with floating rose cndles and rose petals and also scatter rose petals on the table. It will be much cheaoper than flowers.
Any opinions? good or bad appreciated

I think that's a great idea. It would really fit in with the place too - Really simple and elegant but a bit unique. The flowers will cost you nothing so, really, it's up to you.
I know exactly what you mean about wanting someplace different. I've been to an event at just about every popular place on the island - fox hollow, watermill, north ritz club, miller place inn, etc. All nice but just not my style.

I too am an 04 bride, I just recently booked my hall. I think North Ritz Club is beautiful, it has indeed become very popular, but that is because it is a one wedding at a time place that is very elegant for a moderate amount of money, hard to find on LI. Many one wedding at a time places are much more expensive. NRC is more expensive than Sans Souci, but well worth the money, so comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges. I say check it our for yourself and decide. It can't be too 'commercialized' if you yourself aren't familiar with it.
Make a pros and cons list, everyone has different priorities, what is most important to you? When I booked NRC I too had a list. My one concern with it was that it is on Jericho Tpke. I always envisioned my reception to be in a mansion that is set back on acres of beautifully landscaped gardens with a long, curvey driveway and giant trees lining the way (something like Harrison House), but reality set in and I realized that unless I had an unlimited budget, or was willing to get married on a Sunday afternoon in February, which I don't and wasn't, NRC was the closest I was going to get to my idea of a perfect wedding.
Check out as many places as possible, I think you will know which place is for you the minute you walk in! I did.

The NRC was okay - Really not what I was looking for.
It is right on Jerhico Tpke. The fact that you can't see the road from the place didn't much matter to me - It still is on rt 25. It is also becoming very, very popular which, I think, is another turn-off. It is definitely a typical reception hall - JMO but I didn't think it had much character at all, especially compared to Sans Souci. The food wasn't bad. It is a nice place if you are looking for a conventional, affordable place to have your reception.
